    Job Description

    NBC News NOW is seeking a highly organized, technically proficient and inspiring leader to help manage our day-to-day operations and production. This position will work Monday-Friday at 30 Rock with a schedule responsive to the requirements of news coverage.

    Successful candidates must have an understanding and background in the news, and the ethics of journalism. They must love working with people as this role requires regular effective communication with members of the NBC News Now team and key stakeholders from various NBC Universal business units. They must be adept in production data tracking - people, technology, and video.

    Responsibilities:

    • Work closely with EVP, News Programming to coordinate operations and staffing of NBC News Now
    • Anticipate, react to, and resolve operational issues with urgency - including in breaking news scenarios
    • Oversee the scheduling of staffers for multiple teams with a high-level attention to detail; track assignments and PTO
    • Project manage hiring operations, maintaining internal tracking documents, ensuring deadlines are met, and assisting with creation of deliverables
    • Oversee the onboarding of all new staff, ensuring seamless first days, and appropriate training plans
    • Partner with stakeholders to develop training on tools, techniques, and best practices
    • Coordinate the delivery of specials, fixes, and regular programming to our network’s master control
    • Oversee the collection, generation and delivery of metadata and documentation around daily production - including project tracking, scripts, cue sheets, etc.
    • Manage the internship program and News Associate scheduling.
    • Project manage specials production, including coordinating with key partners as needed
    • Act as a point of escalation for staff issues, providing solutions or appropriate further escalations
    • Manage awards submissions, partnering with key editorial leaders to identify recognition worthy content
    • Project manage new initiatives as needed
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    You are strong in all the following ways:

    • You’ve been working in news - digital video, broadcast, or cable - for at least 5 years, taking on progressively more responsibility for operations along the way
    • You solve problems and keep everything on track without being asked
    • You know how to edit video on Premiere and/or Avid
    • You know your way around a spreadsheet and aren’t afraid to learn more.
    • You can handle multiple projects with attention to detail under intense deadlines
    • You live for the moments when news is breaking and time to air is short
    • You thrive working in a collaborative team environment
    • You are highly organized
    • Ability to interface with colleagues from various disciplines including editorial, analytics, creative, technical and operations. Exceptional interpersonal, communication, analytical, and project management skills required
    • You have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
    • You are willing to work in New York, New York

    Additional Requirements:

    • Hybrid : This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.
