    JOB DESCRIPTION

    Position Title: Shift Supervisor

    Reports to: Plant Manager

    Required Training/Skills:

    • High school education with continuing education in appropriate disciplines; excellent math, reading, writing, and communication skills; good mechanical aptitude.
    • Extensive knowledge of mono and co-ex polymer extrusion and blown film processes, including process temperature profiles, resins and additives, blenders, scrap reprocessing, seals and perforations, bag machine and winder adjustments, printing, treating, venting, and other auxiliary equipment.
    • Good hand/eye coordination, ability to lift and maneuver rolls of plastic film weighing in excess of 100 lbs.

    Principle Duties:

    • Oversight of all production areas, with a thorough understanding and knowledge of equipment/personnel utilization, order scheduling during shift, product quality, and maximum efficiency of available resources.
    • Accurate measurement and recording of required data on production and quality control documents. Ultimate responsibility for shift accuracy and documentation.
    • Coach and assist foremen with order changes, line start-ups, shut-downs, and personnel utilization.
    • Have a thorough knowledge and understanding of extrusion processing parameters including: temperature profiles, resins and additives, blenders, scrap reprocessing, seals and perforations, bag machine and winder adjustments, printing and venting, and other auxiliary equipment. Proactively troubleshoot and resolve processing and equipment issues.
    • Make determinations regarding company policy, resolve personnel issues, and evaluate employee performance and compliance.
    • Maintain communication during shift, between shifts, and with production office.
    • Ensure production, break room, and warehouse areas are neat and clean at all times.
    • Have thorough knowledge of OSHA regulations including emergency E-stops, safety trip ropes, safety equipment, and procedures.
    • Fully support, endorse, and follow the guidelines of the HACCP & Food Safety Programs.
    • Other responsibilities as required.
