POSITION DESCRIPTION This is a hybrid Manager role made up of both a Production and Installation for commercial sign manufacturing company. This role is responsible for building signs in all aspects of the physical production, along with onsite installation of non-electrical signs, plus the managerial responsibility to lead the entire production team. Sign assembly includes preparing substrates and using the proper machines and techniques to construct products according to written instructions. Installation includes any needed support structures, connectors, and related aspects of creating a finished product on the customer's site. Managing the team in daily assignments, accountabilities, shop procedures, safety, and training are also a part of this crucial role.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS We are looking for someone with a proven track record in both sign production and sign installation with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in the sign industry, plus several years’ experience leading a small production team. A commitment to high quality and customer service is essential, as are building the team, and developing a healthy culture and can-do spirit.
Manager Responsibilities
Prioritize workflow; manage daily assignments; supervise the production process.
Managing work queues; quality checks, and oversight of installation process and schedule.
Perform quality assurance measures pre- and post-production.
Communicate with other employees and customers in a calm and professional manner, handle production related employee issues.
Manage the inventory levels, purchasing, organization, and storage of materials.
Multi-task—work on different projects simultaneously.
Ensure the production area neat, clean, safe, and organized.
Assess and maintain current technology; work with franchisee to investigate and potentially introduce new technology and equipment to staff.
Train employees on equipment, tools, safety, and efficient methods.
Communicate with other employees regarding timing, extra charges, and errors to enable them to keep customer advised of situations.
Production Responsibilities
Follow a layout to place computer cut vinyl or full color graphic image(s) on a predetermined substrate or medium.
Prepare substrates for vinyl application. This may include cutting, painting, laminating, cleaning, and maintaining the substrates for vinyl application.
Weed excess vinyl from computer cut images. Weeding techniques vary with size, type of vinyl and complexity of image.
Operate and maintain printer(s) and other devices; Perform routine machine maintenance and minor repairs when necessary.
Perform quality assurance measures pre- and post-production by accurately reading and interpreting a Work Order and then proofing for errors or unacceptable standards.
Perform finishing operations such as laminating, encapsulating, and/or mounting of printed pieces.
Report inventory levels and stock to be reordered to leadership.
Help unload and store raw materials; clean and maintain storage areas.
Work on multiple projects simultaneously.
Participate in and practice the brand mentality of “Everybody Sells”. Constantly be looking for sales opportunities for the center.
Installation Responsibilities
Safely utilize a variety of tools and equipment (lifts, cranes, etc).
Troubleshoot electronics both low and high voltage.
Operate cutting/routing tables.
Provide site surveys to assist designers’ layout and look for potential issues/hazards.
Fabricate sign supporting structure using presses, tube bender, metal shear, brake, and welding.
Install and repair signage working out of a bucket truck with a Bobcat welder onboard.
Working Conditions
Working conditions are normal for an office and a light manufacturing and fabrication environment.
Installation includes using scissor lifts, low/high voltage signs; presses, tube benders, metal cutting and welding.
Ability to stand for long periods of time.
Ability to lift 50 or more pounds.
Flexibility to lean over a waist-high table and use back and forth hand motion to apply vinyl letters and graphics to a substrate.
Ability to work under pressure to output high-volume, high-quality work.
Ability to use power equipment.
