Job Summary
Our Client is seeking a Professional Land Surveyor (PLS), licensed in Texas, with a strong knowledge of the land surveying and engineering industry to join our growing firm. A qualified candidate must be able to work as part of a team, be reliable, have a strong work ethic, and a positive attitude. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting our team of professional surveyors, field surveyors and survey technicians in the planning, scheduling, and performance of a variety of survey projects throughout the Midwest and beyond. Candidates should be able to apply sound survey principles in planning, evaluation, and completing survey projects as well as approving field measurements and directing and assisting with the preparation of survey documents. Primary Responsibilities
- Manage projects working with clients and survey crews.
- Assist crew members with computations and data collection using field equipment.
- Communicate with on-site supervisors and/or clients.
- Work with land development plans and construction stakeout computations.
- Work with crews to download/upload survey field crew electronic data, notes, photos, etc.
- Perform assigned tasks with minimal oversight.
- Interact with clients in a professional and courteous manner.
- Prepare studies, reports, presentation materials, design documents and construction documents.
- Prepare grading plans, landscape design and land development site plans and subdivisions.
- Landscape design for buffers, rain gardens, streetscapes, etc.
- Effectively coordinate with internal team and project members as well as external client personnel.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of combined field and office experience in a land surveying office.
- PLS registration in Texas required. Multi-state preferred.
- Experience working with Robotic Total Stations & GPS.
- Experience working with LiDAR units is a plus.
- Familiar with field procedures for performing DOT, boundary, topographic and ALTA/NSPS land title surveys.
- Experience in drafting topographic surveys for design.
- Experience in drafting exhibits and the preparation of legal descriptions.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil3D.
- MicroStation and Geopak proficiency is a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong organization, time, and project management skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with multiple teams.
- Ability to prioritize project deadlines.
- Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced work environment.
- Detail-oriented and self-motivated.
- Willingness to work in the office and out in the field when needed.
- Boundary and topographic survey experience.
- Proficient with surveying equipment and software.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Attention to technical detail.
- Strong safety focus.
- Ability to work effectively in both independent and team situations.
- Ability to travel to and from job sites.
- Ability to remain in a stationary position approximately 50% of the day.
Education Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required, Technical School, associate degree, or bachelor’s degree a plus.
- Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license in Texas.
