    Job Description

    The **Program Manager, Security Services **reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

    The **Program Manager, Security Services **is responsible to lead overall daily operations of a specifically assigned hospital site Security Services Department. They support and advise the Manager, Security Services for the region on administrative, operational and financial activities. The Program Manager, Security Services develops and uses data analytics as a tool to track department performance and guide decision making.

    This role manages security operations and systems for their assigned hospital and off-site locations. They are accountable for campus security strategies, emergency preparedness and response, oversight for their hospital Security Services team, maintaining hospital security systems, partners with outside law enforcement agencies, and collaborates with various NM leaders to cultivate a safe and secure environment for patients, staff and visitors. This role supports the long-term strategies encompassing security operations in all owned buildings.

    _ RESPONSIBILITIES:_

    • Manages and maintains all security operations and systems related to their regional hospital, clinical medical office building, commercial and residential real estate portfolio.
    • Ensures the security, safety, and customer service for patients, visitors, physicians and employees.
    • Responds definitively and effectively to campus security breaches.
    • Oversees security incident response planning and investigation of breaches. Assists with corrective action and legal matters associated with such breaches.
    • Manages the annual budget and management plan for their hospital Security Services portfolio.
    • Ensures the day-to-day operations align with the strategic and operational goals for the region and system.
    • Identifies and mitigates security risks and leverages existing procedures and tools to assist in resolution.
    • Develops and maintains relationships with key internal partners to promote a safe and secure environment for Northwestern Medicine properties.
    • Supports major Security Services related projects and physical security technologies, including various access control, alarm, and video surveillance systems. This also includes IT and data security systems and various other related systems.
    • Ensures the Hospital Security Services department meets compliance and regulatory standards including: Environment of Care (EOC), Joint Commission, and Illinois Emergency Management Association (IEMA).
    • Ensures integrity and timely reporting of security metrics to leadership.
    • Complies with security laws, regulations, and contract requirements.
    • Directs subordinates in enforcing compliance, and maintains relationships with law enforcement, regulatory agencies and other issuers of security requirements.
    • Partners with all external law enforcement agencies to carry out duties within Northwestern Medicine properties.
    • Responsible for hospital physical security systems including but not limited to: CCTV, card access systems, radios, lock hardware, safes, code blue stations, security operations center (SOC) technology (as applicable), electronic rounding system (ERS), infant protection systems, and emergency mass communications systems.
    • Creates and maintains a physical security inventory for all systems and devices.
    • Develops and ensures the execution of security policy, procedures, programs and guidelines.
    • Manages the hospital Security Services staff and fosters an environment of support, learning, teamwork, trust and integrity.
    • Supports system leadership with the implementation of new or enhanced procedures to facilitate a smooth transition without causing operational disruptions.
    • Support the regional Manager with meeting preparations, scheduling, maintaining department physical security documentation, initiatives, and other duties as assigned.
    • Provides project management for key initiatives and system goals.
    • Ensures all direct reports have required training completed, assist in the correction of deficiencies and ramifications of non-compliance as necessary.
    • Responsible for deploying and utilizing appropriate Security Services resources within the system as directed.
    • Serves as primary contact for departmental reference of site security staff.
    • Assists regional Manager with hiring, terminations, and corrective action.
    • Develops site and building specific security procedures and policies
    • Conducts ongoing inspections of staff, including uniforms, documentation, and job knowledge.
    • Oversees the schedule, conduct, documentation, and review of all Security Services related drills.
    • Conducts regular rounds to ensure relationships with Security Services staff and customers.
    • Responds to emergency situations as needed including security event monitoring and management of operations.
    • Maintains constant communication with the regional Manager as it relates to day-to-day operations.
    • Assists with annual employee reviews, midyear employee reviews, and competency evaluations.
    • Other duties as assigned in support of regional and organizational priorities.

    • High-school diploma or GED
    • Successful completion of the IAHSS Basic exam within 90 days of hire
    • Successful completion of the IAHSS Advanced exam within 180 days of hire
    • Successful completion of the Supervisor exam within 270 days of hire
    • Maintain IAHSS Basic, Advanced and Supervisor certifications
    • Interpersonal and communication skills necessary to interact effectively with a variety of individuals.
    • Writing skills necessary to complete reports and paperwork that meet departmental standards.
    • 5+ years of experience in a health care safety and security role or related experience
    • 5+ years of leadership experience
    • Strong problem-solving and process improvement skills
    • Valid driver’s license
    • Physical ability and knowledge on how to operate a motor vehicle
    • May require Trustworthy and Reliable requirements of NRC Order EA-12-194 depending on area of responsibility
    • ** Physical Demands:** **** A physical demands test provides an objective way to identify if a candidate can meet the essential tasks for the job the candidate has applied for at Northwestern Medicine. The testing protocol was established with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH).
