Project Accountant – What You Will Do
You will work directly with the Owner and Project Management team to support daily accounting operations and construction accounting.
- Perform full cycle accounts payable process from initial purchase order and invoice to matching the invoice and job costing it to assign costs to all jobs – very detailed!
- Perform and oversee the accounts receivable and billing process from progress billing out to ensuring timely cash collection
- Credit card tracking and credit card reconciliations
- Participate in the project cost tracking / WIP accounting process including meeting with project management team to understand project percentage of completion and under/overs on jobs
- Establish and document accounting policies and procedures, creating an accounting department procedure playbook for future company growth
- Perform account analysis and financial analysis on closed projects
- Pull reports and provide data and analysis to management as needed
Project Accountant – Required Skills, Experience & Personality Fit
You have:
- Prior experience in a bookkeeping / accounting role that includes processing full cycle accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) and cash flow management
- Grit – you work well in a small business where you support owners directly, wear many hats, pivot every day and troubleshoot challenges with independent critical thought
- Attention to detail – you have a keen eye, double check your work and value quality and accuracy
- Experience with accounting ERP systems (may include SAGE 100, 300, Timberline, Foundation)
- MS Excel skills (intermediate) – complex formulas, large multi-tab spreadsheets
Project Accountant – You Might Have (Desired, Not Required)
You might have:
- Prior experience with construction accounting, WIPs, progress billing / applying costs to projects (project accounting) in a construction or specialty subcontracting company
- Prior experience using Quickbooks software
This role is 100% in office in Sacramento, California in the Natomas area.
Compensation $80,000 - $90,000 salary, depending on experience.
