Project Building Estimator
Location: Big Rapids Lumber & Hardware – Big Rapids MI
Summary: Responsible for serving our customers in an engaging way. Our purpose
is to provide our existing and new customers with value, form and function building products. We provide our customers with the best customer service in the industry. This is a Project Building Estimator position and it will include meeting with walk-in customers, talking with phone-in customers. You will participate and contribute to company goals and our strategic plan.
Core Duties and Responsibilities:
Assisting customers with pricing, product and delivery status information
Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings.
Knowledge of various building materials and their usage.
Knowledge of different types of building finishes.
Basic Math skills.
Continual responsibility of being a cooperative resource to customers and fellow employees
Working knowledge and everyday use of technology including but not limited to email, phones, internet, MS Office products, Epicor and various vendor programs.
General knowledge on all BRL&H products and services
Assist with any other needed items or task to ensure corporate success
Reviews and evaluates requests for estimates and prepares project information as needed.
Lead and participate in estimate strategy planning.
Performs and oversees detailed quantity take-offs.
Responsible for preparation of take-off spreadsheets.
Review estimates and construction documents for efficiency and understands scope of work to bid.
Attend client pre-bid meetings, job showings, and job site visits as needed.
Maintain detailed notes and records of all verbal information disseminated by the client during pre-bid meetings and job showings.
Maintain cost estimating tools including databases, spreadsheets, and other computer-based applications to keep updated information on past performance and industry standards.
Determine and evaluate alternative project execution approaches based on the scope of work and the most cost-effective execution methods available.
Maintain lines of communication between company departments, project managers, and client with regards to cost estimating activities.
Flexibility to effectively deal with changing priorities and timelines through analytical problem-solving.
Display tactful, mature, and professional demeanor with well-developed interpersonal skills including the ability to work with diverse personnel.
Lead bid reviews.
Assist with any other needed items or task to ensure corporate success

Construction estimating experience (Preferred at least 2 years)

Education / Training / Experience
High School degree a minimum
Experience in the Building Industry
Construction Estimating: 2yr Preferred
Retail and/or sales experience

Position Opportunity:
Status: Full and part-time positions available
Hours: Facility is open M-F 7:00-6:00, Sat 8:00-3:00
Compensation: $38,000-$50,000
