We have an outstanding career opportunity for a Project Construction Accountant to join a leading Company in McLean, VA.
Responsibilities :
- Tracking design, construction and development costs of assigned projects and properties, including budgeting and forecasting, providing timely and accurate management and financial reporting, and assisting in the audit/review process.
- Construction Management
- Experienced with job cost.
- Track construction contracts, including change orders and re
-allocations.
- Communicate with vendors and maintain vendor information on file.
- Process contractor requisitions for payment.
- Update capital budget schedules.
- Prepare monthly project status reports.
- Assist in the review, approval, and processing of the architect, engineer, and contractor invoices.
- General Accounting
- Ensure invoices are recorded correctly in the accounting system.
- Review and analyze general ledgers for respective projects and properties, process adjusting journal entries, calculate monthly accruals, and update balance sheet support schedules.
- Prepare wire transfers to external vendors and intercompany entities.
- Financial Reporting
- Prepare monthly and quarterly reporting packages for assigned projects/properties.
- Prepare monthly cost variance analyses and monthly balance sheet analyses.
- Prepare & distribute all monthly job cost reports to the Project Managers.
- Prepare the close
-out package for all completed jobs.
- Prepare direct cost entries, as needed.
- Assisting with strategic planning/forecasting of project financials.
- Review Owner contracts to understand accounting requirements.
Basic Hiring Criteria :
- Knowledge of US GAAP (specifically, commercial real estate).
- Minimum three years of commercial real estate project accounting experience preferred.
- Strong analytical ability; detail
-oriented with strong initiative and analytical skills.
- Experienced with multi
-family or commercial development projects.
- Understanding of construction and property management in relation to financial accounting, recoveries, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and MS Word; Experience with YARDI is a plus.
