Summary – Project Manager - Earthwork:
Leading provider of residential and commercial excavation services in Kansas City, MO. With over 25 years of experience, we specialize in mass grading, site development, and underground utilities, utilizing the latest equipment and GPS technology to improve production and accuracy.
The Project Manager oversees the planning, execution, and completion of earthwork and site development projects. This role involves managing budgets, schedules, and compliance, while coordinating with clients, engineers, subcontractors, and construction teams. The ideal candidate will have a background in heavy civil construction, strong leadership and communication skills, and the ability to troubleshoot and manage multiple projects efficiently. This position ensures timely and cost-effective project delivery, maintaining high standards for quality and safety.
Position Overview – Project Manager - Earthwork:
- Develop project budgets and scope of work plans, perform site visits, and review specifications and drawings. Secure any required permits for project execution.
- Troubleshoot issues on existing projects and communicate regularly with customers, engineers, subcontractors, and construction teams to provide status updates.
- Coordinate and lead pre-construction meetings, ensuring all team members are aligned on project requirements.
- Ensure compliance with contract requirements by thoroughly understanding project specifications.
- Prepare, revise, and update project schedules and budgets, ensuring alignment with timelines and financial goals.
- Review budgets versus actual performance with the Project Superintendent periodically, implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Manage subcontractor schedules to ensure timely completion and approve subcontractor invoices for payment.
- Coordinate with material suppliers and subcontractors to ensure all submittals and field materials are in order and delivered on time.
- Authorize and document all additional work through proper change order execution.
- Assist with project transitions from Estimators, including takeoffs and buyouts.
- Complete subcontracts, purchase orders, pay applications, RFIs, and RFCs as necessary.
Qualification Summary – Project Manager - Earthwork:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or Engineering preferred; equivalent experience (7+ years) with previous Project Management experience will be considered.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in Heavy Civil Construction, with an understanding of earthwork and site development.
- Estimating background preferred but not required.
- Proficiency in MS Teams, Vista Viewpoint, and understanding of CPM scheduling tools.
- Strong computer skills, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to effectively manage multiple stakeholders.
- Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
