About ECOnorthwest
ECOnorthwest is experiencing rapid growth and we are seeking a curious and collaborative person to join our team. If you seek to make an impact through social, economic, or urban policy, this is your place! Our interdisciplinary team provides rigorous data analysis and content expertise to guide policymakers, practitioners, and business and community leaders toward innovative policy solutions. We explain the evidence, give our clients fresh ways to understand enduring challenges, and suggest options to improve policymaking in an era of high need, finite resources, and tough politics.
Our work and clients address some of the most important questions of our time: How can schools educate all students effectively? Which housing and social services programs or services work and for whom? How do we raise incomes and lower housing costs? What policies drive economic mobility, and how do communities promote more equitable growth? How can we close the racial wealth gap? How can governments and communities deliver services efficiently and direct resources to those in most need, in a time of economic and fiscal uncertainty?
Our team’s recent projects include:
● Identifying workforce gaps in Denver’s natural resource management sector and equity-centered opportunities to fill identified gaps for the city’s Office of Climate Action Sustainability and Resiliency.
● Making recommendations to the State of Washington on creating an equity assessment tool for use in reviewing legislative bills
● Making policy recommendations for reducing racial disparities in homeownership in Washington
● Understanding the amount of wealth lost because of redlining and racially restrictive covenants in King County
● Identifying strategies to help create an inclusive downtown, welcoming to BIPOC-owned businesses, in downtown Beaverton
● Developing scenario models and data visualization tools that estimate and display national and state-level postsecondary outcomes through 2040 and support strategic planning for the Lumina Foundation.
● Modeling the cost and workforce implications of expanding Washington’s subsidized childcare system.
