Job Description:
We are seeking a highly motivated Onshore Proposal Trainee to join our Proposal Development team. This role is designed for individuals eager to build expertise in government and commercial proposal writing, opportunity identification, and compliance reviews. The trainee will gain hands-on experience in proposal development, content writing, opportunity research, and review processes while collaborating with senior team members to support competitive proposal submissions.
Key Responsibilities:
Opportunity Identification & Research
• Conduct research on government and commercial procurement portals (e.g., SAM.gov, GovWin, eBuy) to identify potential opportunities. • Analyze RFPs, RFIs, and other solicitation documents to determine scope, requirements, and compliance criteria. • Track and maintain an opportunity pipeline, updating internal databases with relevant solicitations.
Proposal Writing & Content Development
• Assist in drafting and formatting sections of proposals, including executive summaries, technical approaches, past performance narratives, and management plans. • Work closely with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to tailor content to specific requirements. • Maintain and update a repository of reusable content, ensuring alignment with industry best practices.
Proposal Coordination & Compliance Reviews
• Support compliance checks by reviewing proposals against RFP requirements and evaluation criteria. • Assist in organizing proposal schedules, kickoff meetings, color team reviews, and submission timelines. • Coordinate with the team to gather inputs, update templates, and ensure version control of documents.
Editing & Quality Assurance
• Review and proofread proposal content to ensure clarity, consistency, and compliance with solicitation guidelines. • Assist in graphics, formatting, and layout for professional proposal presentation. • Ensure adherence to company standards and proposal best practices.
Collaboration & Process Improvement
• Work closely with senior proposal writers, managers, and business development teams to support winning strategies. • Participate in training sessions and mentorship programs to enhance proposal development skills. • Contribute to refining internal processes, templates, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
Training Program (2-6 months):
As part of the role, the selected candidate will undergo comprehensive training for 2 to 6 months, where they will gain knowledge and expertise in the following areas:
• Units/Domain Basics: An introduction to the core principles and concepts within the industry. • Basics of Government Contracting Process: A detailed overview of the government contracting process, including regulations, procedures, and compliance requirements. • Introduction to Proposals: Understanding the key components and structure of proposals, as well as their importance in the contracting process. • Proposal Writing (Basics): Training on how to draft clear and effective proposals, focusing on fundamental writing techniques. • Proposal Writing (Advanced): In-depth training on advanced proposal writing, including strategies for creating persuasive, compliant, and winning proposals. • Client Handling and Interaction: A detailed focus on client relationship management, including communication, interaction techniques, and maintaining long-term partnerships. The training program will be hands-on, and candidates will be supported by experienced mentors to ensure a successful learning experience.
Qualifications & Skills:
• Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Business, Public Administration, or a related field. • Strong research, analytical, and writing skills with attention to detail. • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities. • Ability to multi-task, work under tight deadlines, and adapt to fast-paced environments. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and collaboration tools. • Understanding of government contracting, RFP processes, and procurement regulations (preferred but not required).
