    Position Overview: The Culinary Instructor at Prospect Meadow Farm serves as a key leader in empowering individuals with autism and developmental challenges through culinary education. This position emphasizes the instruction and supervision of culinary trainees while fully managing the operations of the Rooster Café, including catering services and identifying opportunities for business growth. The instructor will lead a dynamic kitchen environment, fostering vocational skills, independence, and confidence in our trainees while ensuring the café operates as a thriving social enterprise.

    Key Responsibilities

    Instruction and Supervision of Culinary Trainees:

    Develop and implement a culinary training program tailored to individuals with autism and developmental disabilities, focusing on hands-on skill-building.

    Teach a range of culinary skills, including food preparation, advanced cooking techniques, menu planning, kitchen safety, and customer service.

    Supervise and mentor trainees in daily café operations, ensuring a positive and educational work environment.

    Provide regular evaluations and individualized feedback to help trainees achieve their personal and vocational goals.

    Provide leadership, professional support and a collaborative approach in supporting the operations of the Prospect Meadow Farm Culinary Training Program.

    Café Operations Management:

    Oversee all aspects of the Rooster Café’s daily operations, ensuring high standards of food quality, safety, and customer service.

    Manage catering operations, from menu planning to event execution, while meeting client expectations and deadlines.

    Identify and pursue opportunities for business growth, such as new menu offerings, partnerships, and community engagement initiatives.

    Maintain compliance with all applicable regulatory standards, including food safety and sanitation requirements.

    Vocational Development and Community Integration:

    Create a supportive environment where trainees can develop vocational skills and gain real-world work experience.

    Collaborate with trainees, support providers, and families to align training with individual goals.

    Foster a culture of inclusion, encouraging trainees to engage with the broader community through café events and activities.

    Professional and Administrative Responsibilities:

    Maintain accurate records of trainee progress, café performance, and compliance with program policies.

    Actively participate in staff meetings, supervisory sessions, and professional development opportunities.

    Respond promptly to any emergencies, ensuring the safety and well-being of trainees and staff.

    Qualifications:

    Experience in the culinary field, with a strong foundation in food preparation, kitchen operations, and customer service.

    Leadership experience from any area of life, demonstrating the ability to mentor, guide, and inspire others.

    Experience working with individuals with autism and developmental disabilities is highly preferred.

    Proven ability to manage food service operations, including café and catering functions.

    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a passion for fostering growth and learning in others.

    Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on business growth and sustainability.

    Relevant certifications in culinary arts, education, or food safety are a plus.
