    Summary:

    Our award-winning client is seeking a Manager of Community and Government Affairs to join their team.In this hybrid role, you'll lead external communications for client site, strengthening our reputation with stakeholders like the media, government officials, and civic leaders. You'll develop strategic communication plans, manage social media and digital presence, and oversee sponsorships, charitable giving, and external events.

    Responsibilities:

    • Develop and execute strategic communication plans for external audiences.

    • Manage content creation for external channels, including press releases, social media, and website content.

    • Lead client’s participation in sponsorships, special events, and community outreach initiatives.

    • Serve as a client spokesperson for the Freeport site, including emergency management teams.

    • Collaborate with government affairs to ensure alignment and coordination of external efforts.

    • Manage relationships with non-profit organizations and identify public relations opportunities.

    • Participate in civic and trade associations, representing client within the community.

    • Oversee contracted resources and PR firms to support communication strategies.

    Required Qualifications:


    • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Political Science, or a related field.

    • Minimum 5 years of experience in external communications, preferably in the chemical/petrochemical industry.

    • Demonstrated expertise in developing and executing community and government affairs communication plans.

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships.

    • Experience in a matrix environment and working within an operational/manufacturing setting (preferred).

    • Public Relations accreditation (APR) a plus.
