    PROVISIONAL OPENING FOR SENIOR CASEWORKER
    There is a provisional opening in the Allegany County Department of Economic Development for a full-time Marketing and Development Specialist.

    **This is a competitive class position, provisional candidate must pass the examination for this position and be ranked among the top three (3) candidates and receive an offer of employment for this position.

    ** Residency -Candidates must be residents of Allegany County or a contiguous county for at least one month prior to the date of exam. _ ****_

    DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS :

    Work involves frequent use of independent judgment, collaborative efforts related to data collection & analysis, market strategies, economic development and tourism focused marketing campaigns, content creation, public relations and communication, social media platforms, and marketing software. Evening and weekend work is occasionally required of employees in this class. Work is performed under general supervision of the Director of Economic Development or designee. Incumbent leads and participates in clerical work assignments and general office administrative affairs as needed. Does related work as required.

    TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES :

    • Provide administrative support services including routine office tasks, maintains office accounts related to marketing and tourism such as payables, receivables, and financial reports;
    • Prepares narrative staff reports and recommendations to support current or proposed marketing goals and objectives;
    • Develops marketing and studies and reports in support of new and updated plans and programs;
    • Assists with information in pursuit of grant applications and reporting of implemented grants;
    • May assist and collaborate with other departments on GIS based Maps including data acquisition, creative presentation, on-line applications;
    • May assist and collaborate with other departments in areas where economic development, tourism and marketing overlap with other departmental objectives;
    • Assists in the collection of data on available business/industrial facilities and plants, suitable sites, tourism metrics, local events, other community resources of interest to prospective business/industries seeking relative to economic development and/or tourism;
    • May recommend funding sources and refer clients to appropriate lending institutions such as local, state or federal agencies during the assistance process to local businesses for marketing related efforts;
    • Provides technical assistance, information sharing, and project management support for economic development and tourism related program areas;
    • May provide direct assistance to local businesses with outreach, education and support, as needed or requested;
    • Provide support for the development of new businesses and expansion or retention of current businesses within the County.
    • Assists with the development and implement of marketing designs, campaigns, advertisement, and distribution to local, regional, national locations;
    • Provide public relations coordination and implementation as needed or directed;
    • Assists with updates and maintenance of marketing plans that support economic development and tourism efforts;
    • Updates economic development and tourism websites, social media platforms, associated software and technology as applicable, all marketing collateral, and is responsible for all media assets and the storage and organization of said assets;
    • Responsible for the creation and maintenance of all design guides, branding, and organizational portfolios;
    • Responsible for the creation of all marketing designs including graphics, under the supervision and with approval from the Director of Economic Development, this includes the planning, creation, curation, production and utilization of photography and videography;
    • Responsible for all digital marketing efforts, aligned with approved marketing plans, in support of advertising and search engine efforts, along with the reporting of all digital marketing efforts and associated ROIs.
    • May take part in public meetings, fairs, exhibitions, and trade shows as needed and requested;

    FULL PERFORMANCES, KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS : Thorough knowledge of departmental programs, policies and practices; working knowledge of computer hardware and software programs such as Microsoft Office, Canva, Adobe Suite, and other marketing/graphic software, Internet applications , database management, or GIS; ability and aptitude to learn web site design, basic HTML and evolving technologies; Google web application and analytics; ability to understand and carry out oral and written directions; ability to work well with others and individually; ability to multitask; clerical aptitude; neatness of appearance; tact, courtesy, and professionalism in communications.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

    Either:

    (a) Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university or one accredited by the New York State Board of Regents to grant degrees with an Associate's degree or higher in Marketing or Graphic Design and one (1) year full-time or part-time equivalent of satisfactory experience in a marketing and/or design related role; or

    (b) Two (2) or more years in a paid marketing and/or design role.

    SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Possession of appropriate level driver's license is required at time of appointment and must be maintained throughout the time of service in this classification.
