    Psychiatric Medical Assistant

    We are seeking a Psychiatric Medical Assistant to join our team.

    Under the supervision of a physician, this individual will perform routine clinical duties in the role of a medical assistant and support the documentation of patient information into the Electronic Medical Record. The Medical Assistant will work with physicians, nurse practitioners, administrative and clinical staff to ensure that the patient record meets practice standards. The practice is willing to train the right candidate who demonstrates the right set of skills and shows interest and initiative.

    Essential Functions:

    Demonstrate good customer service skills, characterized by caring, concern, and respect for patients and their family members, visitors, and co-workers.

    Perform routine clinical tasks such as measuring and recording height, weight, pulse, and blood pressure; greeting the patients and assisting patients into the psychiatrist’s office.

    Instructs and assists patients with the completion of clinical and administrative documentation including but not limited to consent to treatment, clinical history form, symptom screening tools, crisis plans, and release of information forms.

    Maintains the patient care record in a complete and thorough manner.

    Follows established medical record requirements and documentation standards established by the CMHC, and assists the physician in completing required materials.

    Recognize the preferences and differences of each physician and abide by them when working with each physician.

    Ensure that proper follow-up appointments are made by communicating with the front desk staff and if necessary, escorting the patient to the front desk to facilitate.

    Notifies the physician of changes to the schedule, especially emergencies.

    Initiate or complete administrative tasks with support of administrative staff.

    All other duties as assigned.

    EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: HS Diploma or GED required.1 to 2 years of Doctor’s Office or related experience in medical field.

    Requirements

    Ability to interact and communicate in a professional and courteous manner with clients, staff, and other guests; maintaining strict confidentiality.

    Proficient computer skills including a basic knowledge of electronic medical record software.

    Demonstrate the skills and ability to efficiently document patient care as communicated by the physician.

    Strong written communication skills.

    Organized and detail oriented.
