    Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner – Child Outpatient Services

    The Company: For 70 years, our client has provided comprehensive behavioral health and family counseling services in Bay, Calhoun, Gulf, Holmes, Jackson, and Washington counties in the Florida Panhandle. They offer objective, professional help with personal problems ranging from family life adjustment difficulties to stress reactions, substance abuse and mental illness.

    The Position: The role of the PMHNP is to assess, diagnose and treat the mental health needs of children, adolescents, and families within the outpatient clinic. For this position, the PMHNP will provide therapy, and education and will prescribe medications for patients who have mental health disorders. Our client is offering the following compensation and benefits:

    • $130,000 - $135,000+ Depending on Experience

    Requirements:

    • Board Certified in Psychiatric Mental Health (PMHNP)
    • Active Florida License
    • At least 2 years of outpatient prescribing experience with children and adolescents.
    • ANCC Across the Lifespan Certification is required within 6 months of employment.

    Responsibilities:

    • Monday - Friday (8am - 5pm). Optional 4 -day workweek after 4 months of employment.
    • Child & Adolescent Outpatient Services.
    • Utilize treatment strategies which include assessing everyone’s behaviors and symptoms of mental illness/emotional disturbance and prescribing medication in response to the symptoms.
    • Regularly reviewing and documenting the individual’s symptoms of mental illness, as well as his or her response to the prescribed medication treatment; educating the individual & family on the symptoms of his/her illness and the effects and side effects of the medication prescribed to regulate it.
    • Assisting the individual & family to identify the symptoms and occurrence patterns and to develop internal, behavioral, or adaptive methods to help lessen their effects; monitoring, treating, and documenting any medication side effects.
    • Developing and maintaining a positive, therapeutic relationship with the individuals served; using atypical new medications with greater effectiveness and a better side effect profile, and simplifying the medication regimen.
    • An option for added duties for extra compensation within an adult inpatient unit.
    • Additional responsibilities may be required.
