** Overview: Nexus HR is looking for a Psychiatric** Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in the Great Falls, Montana area to provide advanced psychiatric care to patients across the lifespan, including assessments, diagnosis, and treatment of mental health disorders.
About the Job
To prescribe medications, conduct therapy, and monitor patient progress. To focus on patient-centered care, providing services in various settings such as hospitals, outpatient clinics, or private practice.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, including medical, mental health, and psychosocial history, and mental status examinations.
- Diagnose mental health conditions, such as depression, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, PTSD, and substance use disorders, using DSM-5 criteria.
- Prescribe and monitor psychotropic medications, adjusting treatment plans as necessary based on patient response and side effects.
- Provide psychotherapy, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, and other evidence-based treatments, either as standalone treatment or in combination with medication.
- Provide crisis intervention services, including assessing and managing acute psychiatric emergencies.
- Work collaboratively with psychiatrists, primary care providers, social workers, and other healthcare team members to provide holistic care.
- Educate patients and their families about their mental health conditions, treatment options, and lifestyle modifications to improve outcomes.
- Develop, implement, and modify individualized patient treatment plans based on clinical assessments, patient input, and therapeutic goals.
- Assist in coordinating care with other healthcare providers, social services, and community resources to ensure continuity of care.
- Maintain accurate and timely medical records, including progress notes, treatment plans, and medication management.
- Stay current with best practices, new medications, and therapies through continuing education and evidence-based research.
Qualifications :
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) with a focus on psychiatric and mental health nursing.
- National Certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).
- Current RN and APRN licenses in the state of practice, with prescriptive authority.
- Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in psychiatric nursing or mental health settings.
- In-depth knowledge of psychiatric disorders and psychopharmacology.
- Excellent communication, diagnostic, and clinical skills.
- Ability to manage and monitor psychotropic medications.
- Strong interpersonal skills for building rapport with patients and interdisciplinary teams.
