Position Purpose
Under direct supervision of the Telecommunication Supervisor or Asst Telecommunications Supervisor, Public Safety Telecommunicators are responsible for the efficient response to emergency and non-emergency calls to include but not limited to, receiving, processing, effectively prioritizing and documenting all calls for service for police, fire, and medical assistance from the public, relaying information to the appropriate source for assistance, and performing related administrative duties.

Special Requirements:
Must be certified as a Telecommunicator in the State of Kentucky or must obtain certification within six (6) months of date of employment.
Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
Must be a United States citizen.
Must possess well-developed listening communications skills.
Must be able to work a varied schedule.
Ability to successfully complete a background, polygraph and drug screen, suitability screening.
Yearly in-service required eight (8) hours to maintain Telecommunicator certification.
Bi-annual in-service to maintain LINK/NCIC certification for terminal access.
