Pump Mechanic/Field Service Tech Position:
A Pump Mechanic is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing a wide range of pumps and systems. These pumps may be used in various industries, including water supply, oil and gas, manufacturing, and wastewater treatment. The Pump Mechanic ensures that pumps operate efficiently and safely, minimizing downtime and extending the life of the equipment.
Pump Mechanic/Field Service Tech Responsibilities:
• Installation & Setup: Install and commission different types of pumps (centrifugal, diaphragm, piston, etc.) and associated equipment in accordance with manufacturer specifications and industry standards.
• Maintenance: Perform routine and preventive maintenance on pumps, motors, seals, bearings, and other related components.
• Troubleshooting: Diagnose mechanical and hydraulic issues in pumps, identifying and fixing problems related to vibration, cavitation, leakage, or inadequate flow.
• Repair: Disassemble, inspect, and repair or replace defective parts such as impellers, shafts, bearings, seals, and gaskets.
• Alignment & Balancing: Ensure proper alignment of pumps and motor shafts, and balance rotating assemblies for optimal performance.
• Documentation: Maintain detailed maintenance records, work orders, and service reports.
• Compliance: Follow safety regulations and company policies while working on equipment, and adhere to industry standards such as OSHA and MSHA.
• Testing: Perform pressure, flow, and performance tests to ensure pumps are operating at required specifications.
• Collaboration: Work with other technicians, engineers, and operations staff to troubleshoot system-wide issues and optimize pump systems.
Qualifications:
• Education: High school diploma or GED; vocational training or certification in mechanical, industrial maintenance, or a related field preferred.
• Experience: Minimum 2-5 years of experience as a pump mechanic or similar role.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in reading blueprints, manuals, and technical drawings.
• Hands-on experience with power tools, hand tools, and diagnostic equipment.
• Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Understanding of safety protocols and procedures.
• Mechanical certification (preferred).
• Valid driver’s license (required).
• OSHA/MSHA safety certification (a plus).
Work Environment:
• Fieldwork in various industrial settings (factories, water treatment plants, oil fields).
• Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy objects, work in confined spaces, and stand or crouch for long periods.
• May be exposed to hazardous materials, loud noise, and variable weather conditions.
