    Job Summary:

    Are you an experienced Purchasing Agent with a background in lumber and construction materials procurement? We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Purchasing Agent to join our team at Associated Truss Co. In this role, you will play a crucial part in the timely acquisition of materials, commodities, and supplies, ensuring the highest quality at the best possible cost. If you have 3 to 5 years of experience in inventory control and purchasing, a keen understanding of the lumber and building materials market, and excellent negotiation skills, we want to hear from you.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    Monitor and maintain inventory to support company sales activity.

    Gather market data and monitor sales trends, including product projections, dips, and spikes.

    Place new purchase orders and monitor existing orders with product vendors.

    Analyze vendor performance, ensuring on-time shipment and product quality to reduce supply uncertainties.

    Analyze inventory turns and averages.

    Interact with unloading and yard personnel.

    Assist sales and operations in managing inventory levels.

    Assist with job site direct deliveries.

    Analyze new products with the sales team.

    Work under the supervision of the purchasing manager.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of training and experience (Supply Chain or Operations degree preferred).

    3 to 5 years of inventory control and/or purchasing experience.

    Experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment preferred.

    Knowledge of purchasing concepts and application preferred.

    Strong computer skills, including MS Office software required.

    Competencies:

    Comprehensive knowledge of material management and procurement function.

    Skill in analyzing market trends.

    Strong analytical, quantitative, problem-solving, and technical skills.

    Ability to plan, organize, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

    Knowledge of market and business commodity management.

    Excellent oral and written communication skills.

    Excellent negotiation skills.

    Strong organizational and time management skills.

    Work Environment / Physical Activity:

    The role involves working in an office setting, generally sedentary with physical effort associated with using a computer. There may be occasional walking or standing for brief periods, and lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or moving objects up to 25 pounds. Occasional travel may be required.
