The Purchasing Associate handles a diverse set of responsibilities to ensure our inbound operations and suppliers perform at a high level. Through critical work in Delivery, Procurement, and Purchasing Operations, you’ll set our supply chain and our customers up for success. This is a unique opportunity to learn about an evolving, fundamental operation in the company, while also making an immediate impact. In addition to daily responsibilities, this role drives continuous improvement within the Purchasing Organization, with ample opportunities to learn about and improve the processes and technologies we use to drive outcomes.
Responsibilities:
Navigate a cloud-based ERP system to place purchase orders with primary vendors, and help drive the initiative to automate the placement of PO’s for select suppliers.
Request shipping updates from suppliers to ensure accuracy of internal data.
Expedite shipping with suppliers to ensure we maintain healthy inventory positions and meet service level expectations for our customers.
Escalate within supplier organizations to drive resolution of ongoing issues.
Work with the Merchandising Organization to identify alternate suppliers and place orders with them (when primary suppliers are struggling to meet our needs).
Communicate with the Warehouse Organization to answer critical questions in Receiving and ensure accuracy of our inventory and supplier records.
Visit suppliers to learn more about their operations and understand how we can maintain high performing partnerships.
Work with peers and leadership to evolve processes and technologies that will set the Purchasing Organization up for success.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Business, or a related field.
3-5 years of supply chain experience, ideally within a Purchasing Organization.
Strong understanding of supply chain processes and systems
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new software systems including ERP, Warehouse Management, and Business Intelligence tools
