  • Responsibilities

    Responsible for a variety of tasks in the purchasing department that include, but is not limited to, preparing, reviewing, and tracking purchase orders through the purchasing process. Under the guidance of Purchasing Manager and Purchasing Agent, works with vendors to obtain competitive pricing based on quotes, price lists and quantity ordered. Inputs all changes into the purchasing system, including purchase orders, price changes, new suppliers and system updates. Performs some clerical duties such as filing, generating correspondence, and responding to inquiries for the Purchasing Department.

    Position Objectives and Primary Responsibilities

    • Receives supplier quotes and price increase letters. Works with purchasing team to evaluate the impact of price changes and supplier rankings.
    • Supports purchasing team, lab and suppliers seeking new products and raw-material opportunities and pricing. As directed.
    • Set-up new products, packaging, raw-material and suppliers in X3 in absence of Purchasing Agent
    • Enters new suppliers and raw material on BHC’s intra-net page for lab approval.
    • Resolves inventory discrepancies such as counts, inventory adjustments with Inventory Control Clerk and suppliers if needed after discussing with Purchasing manager.
    • Maintains supplier performance records. Forwards quarterly supplier performance reports to suppliers.
    • Log and maintain supplier NCR’s, working with BHC team and suppliers.
    • Forward purchase order within authorized limit and schedules deliveries with suppliers
    • Verifies purchase order pricing, freight, product codes, product descriptions and delivery dates. (back-up to purchasing agent)
    • Support to the Research, identifying and recommending potential suppliers and products as directed by lab and sales team.
    • Responds to internal inquiries about order status. Contact suppliers to schedule or expedite deliveries when needed.
    • Works with inventory control, receiving and plant to resolve shortages, damages, missed or late deliveries.
    • Tracks purchase orders. Works with suppliers to correct delivery issues with previous “past due” PO’s
    • Obtains updated quotes from suppliers and inputs information into price book & maintain it

    Position-Specific Skills Required

    • Proficient data entry skills
    • Minimum 2 years of experience in purchasing function.
    • Have good interpersonal skills, written & verbal communication skills, reasoning ability & math aptitude
    • Ability to proofread proficiently and pay attention to details.
    • Good analytical skill
    • Detail & data oriented
    • Ability to organize, work under stress and multitask
