  • Responsibilities

    We are seeking a detail-oriented Purchasing Specialist II to support our procurement activities. This role will involve handling purchasing responsibilities, vendor management, and ensuring compliance with university procurement policies and procedures.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Oversee the purchasing process for various goods and services, ensuring timely and cost-effective procurement.
    • Prepare and issue purchase orders, review requisitions, and ensure proper documentation.
    • Evaluate supplier bids and proposals, conducting comparative analyses to make informed purchasing decisions.
    • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and departments to understand purchasing needs and specifications.
    • Negotiate contracts and terms with vendors, ensuring favorable conditions for the university.
    • Maintain accurate records of purchases, contracts, and related documentation.
    • Monitor supplier performance, address any discrepancies, and ensure adherence to quality standards.
    • Ensure compliance with university procurement policies, state guidelines, and applicable regulations.
    • Resolve purchasing issues, disputes, or concerns with vendors and internal stakeholders.
    • Assist in developing and maintaining the preferred vendor list and updating supplier databases.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
    • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a purchasing or procurement role, preferably within a university or educational institution.
    • Strong understanding of procurement processes, supplier management, and contract negotiation.
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and procurement software.
    • Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of stakeholders.
    • Knowledge of state procurement guidelines and compliance is a plus.
    • Certification in Purchasing or Procurement (e.g., CPPB, CPPO) is a plus.
