Quality Requirements: Must learn and follow all quality requirements in accordance with Smith policy standards. Responsible for the monitoring, qualification, and training of employees which also includes API and ASME, or any other applicable standards, procedures, and work instructions which may apply to Smith Industries LLC.
Management/Supervisory Requirements: Must be able to work with foremen, supervisors, and administrative staff to manage the implementation and/or continuance of safe work practices, operations, and overall function of the facility.
General Requirements: Work requires professional written and verbal communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills. Bilingual abilities in Spanish preferred, but not required. Ability to recognize and evaluate weld discontinuities, areas of improvement, and other weaknesses in all products at Smith Industries LLC. Ability to perform tests and measurements on Smith products and should be able to read drawings. Work requires willingness to work a flexible schedule. Certifications on ultrasonic testing magnetic particle.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to stand/walk up to 90% of the workday; sit to perform normal office duties for up to 50% of the workday, occasional bending, squatting, ascending ladders/stairways.
Typical Functions
Assures the quality of all materials, structures, components of all types of pressure vessels and tanks, is maintained throughout the production process.
Verifies that all vessels, tanks, and other product lines comply with all relevant quality standards and regulations (i.e. ASME and API, etc).
Verifies materials, parts and final products through independent checks and inspections.
Assists in defining a QA/QC program that meets the full scope of all regulatory requirements.
Maintains and documents all Quality Control inspections and findings on travelers and QC Inspection sheets.
Assists QA/QC Inspector Supervisor with organization of QA/QC training courses.
Assists QA/QC Inspector Supervisor with any clerical projects.
Assists the QA/QC Inspector Supervisor in preparing, tracking, maintaining, copying and distribution of various quality reports, logs, records, and databases and with implementation of the Quality Management System.
Assures that all material received on shop floor and marked with heat number and Smith Identifying number.
Handles evolving needs in a timely manner with an ability to do heavily task-oriented document processing quickly and efficiently as project timelines are often impacted in a hectic job shop environment.
Manages work within the electronic document systems, utilizing a PC to maintain a variety of records, entries and updates of data into electronic databases of varying types.
Works with Production Supervisors, Safety Manager, and QC inspectors with various administrative duties, data entry, document preparations, etc. as assigned.
Updates and ensures compliance with material control spreadsheet, provide oversight on compliance and implementation of procedures and policy for all employees. .
