  • Responsibilities

     

    The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for improving company effectiveness and profitability of the integrated business by providing high-level technical support for customer requests and existing operations.  The Quality Assurance Manager is also key to the creation and development of a continuous improvement culture.

     

     

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:  Direct Supervision of Quality Engineer.

     

     

    PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    ·       Provide technical support and project management for complex and technically sophisticated customer projects.

    ·       Provide leadership to the integrated business in analyzing and improving methods, processes, process flows, and ergonomics

    ·       Work closely with the Customer Advocates, Technical Support Services, and Shop Supervision on solving customer needs.  

    ·       Work closely with Casting Engineer to build redundancy in the role.

    ·       Work Closely with Machine Shop technical team to assist in process capability improvements

    ·       Work with the Foundry Superintendent, Machining Superintendent, Tooling Superintendent, and department Supervisors to implement process improvements

    ·       Work with the organization to create and refine system cost reductions

    ·       Work with the organization to reduce process variation

    ·       Perform job, operational, and organizational cost analyses as needed

    ·       Identify and communicate potential changes that would improve productivity, quality, cost, health, safety and environmental performance within the integrated business

    ·       Work with the Director of Operations and the line Superintendents to evaluate, select, plan, roll out, monitor, reinforce, and refine over time a shop floor oriented approach to employee involvement, empowerment, and continuous improvement

    ·       Perform other duties and manage special projects as assigned.

     

     

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    ·       Education:      Bachelors degree in engineering

    ·       Experience:     Four to ten years experience in a heavy manufacturing environment

    ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED:

    • Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering Technical Aptitude

    • Deep understanding of project management

    • Deep understanding of GD&T and understanding customer specifications

    • Deep understanding of process variation control

    • Growing knowledge and understanding of the leading approaches to shop floor employee involvement and organization-wide continuous improvement

    • Strong knowledge of the information systems needed to perform the job
