Job Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated enthusiastic Quality Assurance / Quality Control Leader to join our team. The Quality Assurance / Quality Control Leader reports to the Head of Product Development.
As the QA/QC Leader for our operations in the power generation and process industries, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of quality assurance and quality control within our manufacturing and operational processes. You will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with applicable US and international regulatory requirements, maintaining product integrity, and driving continuous improvement initiatives across our organization. The company’s lead for Supplier Quality Surveillance will report to this role on a matrix basis.
Our utility-scale power plant product is in its development/ validation phase which makes this the perfect time to join our team and make a meaningful impact! This role is critical to achieving our short-term and long-term business goals. The successful candidate will have the ability to lead, influence, and work autonomously.
This role will be based in Houston, TX or Durham, NC.
Responsibilities and Duties
Quality Management System (QMS): Develop, implement, and maintain a robust Quality Management System (QMS) tailored to the specific needs of the power generation and process industries. Ensure adherence to international standards (e.g., ISO 9001, ASME, etc.) and regulatory requirements.
Quality Assurance (QA): Establish QA processes and procedures to monitor and evaluate product quality throughout the manufacturing lifecycle. Conduct audits and inspections to identify areas for improvement and ensure consistency in product performance.
Quality Control (QC): Implement QC measures to verify compliance with design specifications, standards, and customer requirements. Develop and execute inspection and testing protocols for raw materials, in-process components, and finished products.
Supplier Quality Surveillance: Establish standards for and act as quality discipline lead for SQS to assess supplier capabilities, conduct audits, and establish quality inspection agreements.
Drive supplier performance improvement initiatives to enhance delivered value to NET Power projects, plants and licensees.
Continuous Improvement: Lead initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, reduce defects, and optimize processes within the manufacturing environment. Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to address non-conformities and improve process reliability.
Training and Development: Provide training and mentorship to QA/QC staff and operational teams on quality standards, procedures, and best practices. Foster a culture of quality and accountability throughout the organization.
Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of QA/QC activities, inspection results, and compliance documentation. Prepare reports and metrics to communicate quality performance to senior management and stakeholders.
Regulatory Compliance: Stay informed about industry regulations, standards, and best practices related to power generation and process industries. Ensure company operations are in full compliance with regulatory requirements and customer specifications.
Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed (60+% of the time).
Education and Required Experience
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related technical field. Advanced degree (MBA, MS) preferred.
7-10 years of experience in QA/QC management roles within the power generation, process industries, or similar sectors.
In-depth experience in applying quality management systems, standards (ISO 9001, ASME, etc.), and regulatory requirements applicable to the industry.
Proven track record of implementing QA/QC best practices, conducting audits, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across functional teams.
Analytical mindset with excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
Certification(s) in Quality Management (e.g., Quality Assurance, Quality Control Certificates, Six Sigma) is a plus.
Experience with new product introduction and lifecycle management.
Excellent analytical, negotiation, and project management skills.
Ability to lead and motivate cross-functional teams.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
