Title: Quality Assurance Technician / Backup SQF Practitioner
Department: Quality Assurance
Reports To: Quality Assurance Manager / SQF Practitioner
Scope of Position
The QA Technician is primarily responsible for overseeing the day-to-day integration of Company Policies and Quality Standards throughout the production of Whitley’s products. As the secondary SQF Practitioner, this critical role requires functioning as the Primary SQF Practitioner in the QA Manager’s absence.
This is a full-time position, year-round.
Key Responsibilities
Understand and lead a culture of food safety
Monitor and interact daily with production departments and processes, ensuring the effective application of Food Safety/ Quality requirements throughout the manufacturing process, securing compliance with all company, regulatory and GFSI standards
Work closely with production staff, supervisors and management to identify and address food safety and quality issues, and drive continuous improvement
Ensure materials, work-in-progress and finished goods meet internal and customer specifications, taking appropriate and immediate action when non-conformances are noted
Conduct and lead Internal Audits
Assist with and conduct employee training related to Food Safety/Quality
Maintain and execute Environmental Monitoring procedures according to schedule
Adhere to and execute Company policies and procedures.
Administer, review and manage retention of QAFS documentation
Coordinate with other departments in support of company operations
May perform tasks for other departments, as needed

Working Conditions
Frequent standing and sitting, from desk to production floor
Ability to withstand varying temperatures and humidity
Work may require lifting, reaching, bending, pulling or pushing; ability to lift up to 25lbs, or up to 50lbs with assistance
Compliance with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and GMPs
Minimum Qualifications
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills (oral and written) are required
High School Diploma or recognized equivalent
Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel), with proficiency highly preferred
Prior knowledge of HACCP Principles, Preventive Controls and/or Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) Certification is preferred
