    Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00am - 3:30pm

    Department: Quality Control

    The Quality Control Chemist performs tasks that result in the accurate and timely determination of drugs and chemicals in submitted specimens. Leads investigations of quality control material failures and recommends corrective actions. Provides technical expertise to other analytical chemists.

    This position earns an hourly wage. In addition to that, we have full medical, dental, and vision insurance as well as competitive 401k (up to 4% match) and PTO programs (15+ days/year).

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Operates, calibrates, and maintains laboratory equipment such as balances, pipettes, and pH meters.
    • Prepares buffers, mobile phases, quality control materials, internal standards, calibrators, working stock standards, and wash solutions.
    • Operates in compliance with CAP, ABFT, and ISO 17025 regulations with emphasis on quality control regulations.
    • Performs peer review and reviews own work including quality control results to ensure accuracy.
    • Understands and can explain the principles of liquid/liquid and solid phase extraction methods, liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry.
    • Uses LIMS, chromatographic data management systems, and other laboratory data repositories to investigate QC failures/deviations and recommend corrective actions.
    • Trains chemists and technicians and provides technical support to other analytical chemists and laboratory technicians.
    • Responsible for drafting and revising SOPs and forms, and submitting the documents for approval.
    • Follows established laboratory and chemical safety procedures, including proper biohazard waste disposal and practicing universal precautions.
    • Other duties or tasks as assigned.

    • Computer Skills – To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) Database software, and all Microsoft Office Suite products.

    QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

    Minimum Requirements

    Bachelor’s degree in a life science from an accredited university. One (1) year of applicable laboratory experience strongly preferred.
