Job Title: Quality Control Specialist – Fresh Produce (USDA Inspection Experience Preferred)
Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Quality Control Specialist with experience as a USDA Inspector for Fresh Produce. In this role, you will be responsible for monitoring and ensuring the quality of incoming and outgoing produce, adhering to USDA standards, and maintaining compliance with all quality and food safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Inspection & Quality Control
Conduct inspections of fresh produce to ensure it meets company and USDA quality standards.
Evaluate produce for defects, sizing, color, weight, and overall quality.
Identify and document any deviations or non-conformance issues.
Compliance & Documentation
Ensure compliance with USDA, FDA, and company quality and food safety standards.
Maintain accurate records of inspection results and quality reports.
Prepare inspection and compliance documentation for regulatory authorities.
Collaboration & Communication
Work closely with procurement, warehouse, and shipping teams to ensure product quality throughout the supply chain.
Provide guidance and training to team members on quality standards and best practices.
Liaise with growers, suppliers, and customers to resolve quality-related concerns.
Continuous Improvement
Develop and implement quality assurance processes and protocols.
Recommend improvements to reduce waste, improve product handling, and enhance customer satisfaction.
Stay updated on industry trends, USDA regulations, and food safety requirements.
Qualifications:
Experience
Previous experience as a USDA Inspector for Fresh Produce or equivalent role.
Minimum of 3-5 years in quality control or assurance in the fresh produce industry.
Skills
In-depth knowledge of USDA grading standards for fresh produce.
Strong analytical and observational skills.
Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
Proficiency in quality assurance software and reporting tools is a plus.
Education & Certifications
Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Food Science, or related field preferred.
USDA certification or equivalent training is highly desirable.
