QC Technician – Concrete Pipe and Precast Concrete
Position Summary: This position is responsible for performing tests on raw materials and finished product, inspections, processing methods and materials qualifications and responsible for inventory management, ensuring the correct information on available products to ship.
Essential duties include, but are not limited to the following:
Perform daily quality assurance activities for the facility, inspecting and testing product and materials as required by the Quality Control Manual and third party agency requirements
Perform pre-pour inspections before production
Perform post-pour and product acceptance inspections according to guidelines and standards
Perform product inspections prior to shipment
Perform annual form inspection per ACPA/NPCA requirements
Complete compliance documentation and record keeping for the facility
Support daily testing of product (specimen testing, air content, bulk density, spread, VSI, temp, MC% of aggregates) and advises supervisor of any deviations to standards or specifications
Provide sales with process/product testing data per customer’s requirements
Recommend repairs for product as needed and corrective actions on mix design as needed
Recommend revisions to drawings as needed.
Ensure quantities of product per size and class are correctly counted and entered into inventory system
Be proactive in organization of the yard to maintain efficient product storage and shipment
Correspond with operations and sales to maintain correct inventory of pipe and precast products
Experience and Skills:
Minimum High School Diploma (or equivalent) with 1+ years precast concrete experience or related industry or Associates degree in Manufacturing, Engineering Technology, Production, Quality Systems or related field
Demonstrated ability to properly use testing equipment including lab ovens, lab scales, slump cone, unit weight bucket, air meter, thermometer, tape measure, etc.
2+ years of experience driving and utilizing a forklift
Good written and verbal communication skills
Good interpersonal and organizational skills
Basic mathematical ability
Ability to operate computer and supporting software packages - working knowledge in Microsoft suite of software required (Outlook, Word, Excel)
Ability to multitask
Desired Certifications:
ACI level I
ACPA QCast or NPCA PQS 1 Certification
