    Job Description

    Hoosier Racing Tire is the largest race tire manufacturer in the world. Hoosier has grown to produce over 1000 different types of race tires. The company has its own 300-mph test wheel; a technology center; state-of-the-art, fully integrated production facilities recently adding a high-tech mixing plant, with enough capacity to produce not only for Hoosier Racing Tire, but to have the ability to produce rubber for additional entities as well as a model sales and distribution network. Our Hoosier location in Plymouth, IN is seeking a Quality Engineer to join our team.

    THE POSITION

    Leading and steering production and/or peer employees in order to: measure processes, improve processes, assess risk and improve manufacturing quality. Details may include tracking, reporting and management communication. Limited travel may include visits to other tire plants both international and local.

    RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

    Interface between Production, Process and Tire Development

    • Risk assessment transfer from DFMEA of new product development, materials, components, processes, machines into the manufacturing PFMEA locations
    • Supporting & evaluating process capabilities, measurement system R&R etc
    • Facilitating and leading internal process auditing, customer audits and PPS (Plant, Process & Systems) audits
    • problem solving techniques such as root cause analysis (A3), lessons learned documentation (YOKOTEN)
    • Project leader for Quality CAPEX (requirements, design, supplier discussions, release criteria ...)

    Quality improvement, preventative & troubleshooting

    • Observe, report and improve scrap in the production of materials, components and tires (including giving feedback to management)
    • Investigating root causes of repeating issues with a strong quality focus in a structured way
    • Developing control plans and flow diagrams

    Coaching and Teaching employees

    • Implementing sustainable improvement measures, like e.g. PFMEA, Control plans, operator training, machine measurement automation
    • Project management- lead and steer peer groups

    Process improvement, preventative & troubleshooting

    • Coordinating the development & release of new production process controls
    • Initiating, following and concluding quality trial reports
    • Investigating root causes of repeating issues with a strong quality focus in a structured way

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS ****

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or closely related technical field
    • 2 + years of relevant experience
    • Experience with quality tools (DFMEA, PFMEA, SPC, Control Plans, Auditing)
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Tools, including reports in Word, data entry/charting in Excel, composing and sending emails (with and without attachments) in Microsoft Outlook, creating PowerPoint presentations.
    • Experiences with process capability evaluation, root cause analysis, e.g.
    • Visa sponsorship is available for Continental employees only

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • 2 + years of experience with quality tools (DFMEA, PFMEA, SPC, Control Plans, Auditing)
    • 2 + years of quality experience in the rubber industry
    • Familiarity with manufacturing processes related to tire building
