    POSITION TITLE: Quality Inspector B

    REPORTS TO: Quality Manager EPG

    DEPARTMENT: 513

    CLASSIFICATION: Hourly

    Responsibilities:

    • Technical; Knowledgeable in blueprint interpretation, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, and interpretation of customer/industry specific requirements.
    • Inspection Aptitude; Ability to utilize standard measuring equipment in the performance of all levels of inspection including simple layout inspections during the performance of raw material, first piece, in-process, receiving (sub-tier processes; plating, heat treating or other sub-contracted operations), and final inspections.
    • Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) Capabilities ; Proficient in the maintaining, use, and programming of CMM’s. Includes both touch probe and optical operations supporting validation of customer requirements for the aerospace and automotive industries.
    • FAI / PPAP Activities; Perform required inspections, complete objective evidence reports [manually/electronically], perform data entry/corrections/modifications into key customer portals.
    • Inspection Records; Prepare and/or validate quality data/records utilized as objective evidence for submission to customer/customer Quality representative.
    • Communication Skills; Ability to Interface with inter and intra-departmental personnel regarding inspections and associated documentation.
    • Calibration; Shared Responsibility for all facets of Gage Calibration including participation in Gage R&R Studies.
    • Safety/5S; Responsible for the use of all applicable safety equipment and abiding to company safety standards including proper housekeeping practices within the immediate work area.
    • Other Duties; Perform other duties as directed by Quality Management.

    Qualifications:

    • Education/Experience – Three years aerospace/automotive product lines preferably in the stamping industry.

    • Quality Field Skills/Accomplishments – Evidence of: training in Quality field applications, exposure to continuous improvements utilizing lean management tools.

    • Communication Skills – Ability to interact with departmental, divisional, supplier, and customer personnel in order to perform daily Quality Department activities.

    • Mechanical/Inspection Skills – GD&T, layout inspections, use of standard lab measuring equipment, performance of process capability studies, operating and programming of a CMM, and metrology applications including Gage R&R studies. Must have or be pursuing ASQ Certified Mechanical Inspection Status or be able to demonstrate commensurate inspection abilities.

    • Analytical Skills – Ability to validate product compliance level through the determination and interpretation of applicable customer purchase order, drawing, and specification requirements in conjunction with internal policies, procedures and instructions.

    • Computer Skills – Working knowledge in Microsoft Office; Word and Excel. Adaptability regarding various aerospace NetInspect FAIR packages. Ability to learn internal Enterprise Resource software programs. Exposure to metrology software programs.
