    Job Overview:

    We are looking for a Gastroenterology Physician who shall be responsible for providing Gastroenterology care, including, but not limited to: Clinic and Surgical Care, clinical Gastroenterology services, including the diagnosis and treatment of Gastroenterology disease and surgical procedures. Also has to perform Typical procedures including EGD, Colonoscopy, Endoscopic Ultrasound & ERCPs, shall be present in the endoscopy suite for all Gastroenterology, hall provide consultative services at the patient's bedside if the patient is not ambulatory and, in the clinic, setting if the patient is able to report to the outpatient clinic. The physician care shall meeting or exceeding currently national standards as established by American Academy of Gastroenterology Guidelines, the professional standards of the Joint Commission (TJC) and the standards of the American Hospital Association (AHA). The physician shall be perform other duties as assigned.

    Experience Requirements:

    • A minimum of 1+ year of experience in direct patient care.
    • Performing Clinic and Surgical Care: Physician shall provide clinical Gastroenterology services.
    • Physician shall be present on time for any scheduled clinics/surgeries as documented by physical presence in the clinic or operating room at the scheduled start time.
    • Physician shall provide comprehensive clinical Gastroenterology services including the diagnosis and treatment of Gastroenterology disease and surgical procedures.
    • Typical procedures include EGD, Colonoscopy, Endoscopic Ultrasound & ERCP
    • For Intraoperative Follow-up, the physician shall be present in the endoscopy suite for all Gastroenterology procedures.
    • Physician shall provide consultative services at the patient's bedside if the patient is not ambulatory and, in the clinic, setting if the patient is able to report to the outpatient clinic.
    • The candidate shall notify the COR at least monthly about any obstacles to meeting this performance measure.
    • The Physician shall be available and present in the clinic during normal clinic hours, which will be established, and may be revised, as deemed appropriate for patient care by the Chief of Staff.

      • Experience working with veteran patients of all ages

      Physical Requirements:

      • Ability to lift 35+ lbs., per OSHA recommendations
      • Must be physically active for long periods of time without getting tired or out of breath.
      • Stand for extended periods of time

      Education Requirements:

        • Active  license to practice medicine in any State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia.
        • All licenses shall be full and unrestricted licenses.
        • Physician shall be Board Certified /Board Eligible by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM.org) and be currently certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) and ACLS or equivalent.
        • All continuing education courses required for maintaining certification must always be kept up to date.
        • Documentation verifying current certification shall be provided to the VA COR on an annual.
        • Perform endoscopic procedures in GI lab, staffing and supervising GI fellows in endoscopy lab and inpatient consult service, supervising Fellows in gastroenterology clinic when required.

          • The Clinic Schedule: 8:00am – 4:30pm, Monday – Friday. Rotating weekends and holidays. Rotating weeks after normal working hours call coverage. 4:30pm – 7am.
          • 8-hour shift
          • 8:00 am – 4:30 pm
