    SUMMARY DESCRIPTION

    The Radiology Technologist prepares x-ray equipment and gathers supplies necessary for radiological services. Supports the philosophy, objectives and goals of the Surgery Center. Supports and participates in quality improvement activities and reports to the Director of Nursing.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    1. Demonstrates the ability to use X-Ray equipment including calibration and troubleshooting. Respect and use equipment appropriately.

    2. Follow instructions from Physicians regarding which area of the patient's body needs imaging.

    3. Follows established infection control policies and procedures.

    4. Follow correct techniques and procedures such as patient and staff shielding. Prevent unnecessary radiation exposure to patients and staff.

    5. Respects patient's rights and supports patient care for the population served.

    6. Evaluates radiographs for technical quality and stores pictures according to facility policy and guidelines.

    7. Performs actions that demonstrate accountability.

    8. Maintain a safe and clean work environment.

    9. Enhances professional growth and development through participation in various programs, in-services, workshops and meetings. Maintains current clinical skills and competencies.

    1. Demonstrates effective communication and interpersonal skills which promote a positive environment, teamwork and loyalty to the organization.

    2. Maintains a collegial relationship with physicians to ensure quality patient care.

    3. In accordance with the ambulatory surgery center philosophy, presents behaviors and actions which create a high level of customer service to patients, visitors, physicians, vendors and Surgery Center staff.

    4. Demonstrates behaviors and actions which support the mission, goals and operations of the Surgery Center that also contribute to continuous service improvement.

    6. Maintains a positive attitude, even during periods of stress and challenge.

    7. Maintains positive attendance and communicates in advance any absences from work.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    1. Certificate or diploma from an approved/accredited school of Radiology program.

    2. Proof of current BLS training/education (or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire)

    3. Competence in oral and written communication.

    4. Intermittent and prolonged physical mobility/activity including walking, standing, sitting, lifting up to 50 pounds, pulling and pushing of carts, equipment, etc.

    5. Computer skills.

    This position is part-time: 16-24 hours/week.
