    Presbyterian Rust is looking for a top-performer to join our team as a Pain Management RN Full Time.

    Job Summary: Provides direct nursing care to patients by performing the following duties. Specific functions can vary depending on area to which employee is assigned (i.e., OR, Pain).

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

    • Prepares patients for surgery/procedure by providing peri-operative and post-operative instructions. Administers to the physical and emotional needs of patients and their families. - Follows all key requirements meaningful differences as outlined in the EDGE (Every Day Giving Excellence) program under "Education and Experience."
    • Understands and interprets physician's orders, lab values, EKG''s and x-ray reports. Checks the accuracy of paperwork pre-operatively. Documents patients'' medical histories, including allergies.
    • Provides prescribed medications and other pharmaceutical products in accordance with physician's orders. Understands and interprets medication administration orders, dosages and side effects.
    • Initiates safe practices and is knowledgeable about current center policies and procedures. Specific procedures and practices related to conscious sedation when required, pain management assessment and identification, abuse and neglect, sentinel events and response, variance reporting, response to sentinel event alerts, participation in root cause analysis and other key policies and procedures is required.
    • Ensures that Standard Universal Precautions and the principles of aseptic and sterile technique are used appropriately.
    • Implements safe practices and provides knowledgeable guidance and evaluation of the environment of care management including life safety (fire prevention), security, hazardous materials and waste management, emergency preparedness, infection control, and the safe use of medical equipment and utilities
    • Provides assessment of patient positioning, and assessments of physical, mental, pain and psychosocial health status of the child, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient.
    • Assesses and evaluates patient condition peri-operatively and communicates to physician and anesthesia personnel any changes in patient status.
    • Accurately documents care, positioning, equipment safety measures and supplies provided to the patient.

    Required Skills

    • Must be a Registered Nurse with an unrestricted license in the state
    • Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing
    • Minimum of 2 years' experience in PACU or ICU
    • Must have current BLS, ALS
    • Must possess a strong knowledge of surgical procedures and management of the surgical patient
    • Understanding of aseptic techniques and their implementation
    • Ability to quickly adapt to changing condition of the patient when needed
    • Must be an excellent team player and have the ability to communicate with staff, patients and physicians.

    USPI complies with federal, state, and/or local laws regarding mandatory vaccination of its workforce.
