About the Role

We are seeking a highly qualified Nursing Supervisor to join our team at Bowery Residents' Committee, Inc. As a Nursing Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing the nursing staff and ensuring that all patients receive the highest quality care. You will be expected to lead by example, providing guidance and support to your team while maintaining a professional and respectful work environment. Your ultimate goal will be to ensure that all patients receive the best possible care and that the nursing staff is able to perform their duties to the best of their abilities.

Job Responsibilities

• Supervise and manage the nursing staff, ensuring that all patients receive the highest quality care. Appropriately delegates all needed tasks and supervises nurses weekly. Develops nursing schedules in coordination with Medical Director and Program Director and helps to ensure coverage.
• Provide guidance and support to nursing staff, including training and development opportunities
• Identifies and prioritizes client care needs based on client history and nursing assessment.
• Perform client triage, intakes, assessments, and monitors for symptoms of acute withdrawal and/or symptoms of intoxication and the client's response to intervention and treatment.
• Runs groups and ensures RNs are offering groups as scheduled.
• Offers training and updates to nonmedical staff at monthly staff meetings.
• Closely monitors clients during administration of medications. Ensures medication schedule is timely, and adheres to unit policy and protocol. Reviews narcotics count.
• Completes required documentation in a timely and accurate manner, reviews notes of other nurses and gives feedback. Able to deliver shift to shift report and communication that supports consistent client follow up.
• Complete nursing treatment plan that comprehensively endorses client needs and available resources.
• Participates in quality improvement projects.
• Coordinate medical care with internal and external providers including hospital discharges. Coordinate with methadone programs as needed.
• Tracks and orders needed medical supplies and stock meds for the unit.
• Ensure any incident reports are completed as needed by nurses.
• Take direction from immediate supervisor and work in partnership with the program Medical Director and the VP of Nursing, and operates in a shift leadership role; all as part of a multi-disciplinary team/ program.
• Understand the unique needs of the homeless population, within a fast-paced, community-based care setting. Related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Active RN licensure
• Strong leadership and communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field
• Charge Nurse experience
• Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness or other vulnerable populations
• Previous relevant work experience in detoxification programs or emergency departments is preferred.
• Certified Addictions Registered Nurse (CARN) certification

Skills

As a Nursing Supervisor, you will be utilizing your strong leadership and communication skills to manage and support the nursing staff. You will be responsible for developing and implementing nursing care plans and treatment protocols. Your ability to work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals will be essential in ensuring that patients receive comprehensive care. Additionally, other supervisory and/or social service experience would be beneficial in this role.

Full-time 37.5 hours per week

• Monday-Friday 9am-5:30pm

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:

BRC's Chemical Dependency Crisis Center (CDCC) offers 32 beds of supportive inpatient detoxification services for homeless men and women. These services are licensed by NYS Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services and funded by the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. The CDCC program provides medical services, individual and group motivational counseling, didactic health and substance abuse education, and therapeutic activities. In December 2014, CDCC added medically supervised withdrawal services its existing medically monitored withdrawal services, allowing the program to serve clients with a broader range of medical needs.
