    Job Summary

    As a Radar Specialist, you will work with different teams and stakeholders to conduct system upgrades, modifications, and calibration activities to improve the performance and operation requirements of the radar systems (ASR-8/ASR-9). You will create and test prototypes, troubleshoot problems, and provide field support in-person and remotely when implementing upgrades to the radar systems.

    Responsibilities

    Conducting system upgrades, modifications, and calibration activities to improve performance and meet operational requirements

    Interpret and analyze complex information systems data to develop technical documentation, system diagrams, and presentation materials. Coordinate and perform information systems hardware and software testing efforts, produce test and remediation plans and reports, and handle implementation of computer hardware and software for operational systems.

    Experience in the most current electronic and electrical engineering principles and practices. The specialist engineering experience shall be in a NAS related discipline such as command and control, communications, workstation, radar, maintenance, and computer automation fields.

    Provide expertise in the techniques and tools such as computer-aided engineering, spreadsheets, word processor, graphics/presentation, and others used in engineering analysis and documentation

    Expertise in hardware/mechanical design and development, including expertise in use of related development tools. Design, develop, test, and integrate system hardware components, interfaces, and software/firmware packages to produce fully integrated systems.

    Collaborating with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders to address technical issues and implement solutions

    Developing and maintaining technical documentation, including maintenance procedures and system configurations

    Conducting feasibility studies and cost analyses for electrical systems

    Participating in field tests, data analysis, and performance evaluations of radar systems

    Participating in prototype testing, validation, and troubleshooting efforts

    Troubleshooting, analyzing, and determining operational issues and recommending solutions

    Directing and coordinating with outside vendors to manufacture prototypes and production units (including development of Manufacturing Specifications)

    Evaluating test plans/procedures for operational testing during development

    Provide knowledge in the development and implementation of hardware/software integration designs by performing requirements analysis, conceptual design, system design review, critical design review, installation, integration, testing, and maintenance

    Provide engineering support to field personnel to include remote (e.g. email, phone or on-site.)

    Qualifications

    High School Diploma or GED required and ten (10) years of related experience including at least five (5) years of NAS experience

    OR

    An associate degree in a related field will be accepted in lieu of two (2) years of experience

    OR

    A bachelor’s degree in a related field will be accepted in lieu of four (4) years of experience

    Technical Proficiencies

    Required:

    Candidate must have proven ASR-9 OR ASR-8 experience.

    Troubleshoot, analyze, and determine operational issues and recommend solutions.

    Design, develop, and test modern solutions to incorporate into existing systems and equipment.

    Generate installation and test procedures for system modification and verification.

    Perform all aspects of system verification, including all phases of the testing process.

    Develop and execute test plan and procedures in an operational environment.

    Direct and coordinate with outside vendors to manufacture prototypes and production units including development of Manufacturing Specifications.

    Research new technologies that would be integrated in the ASR-9.

    Providing 2nd Level Engineering support to ASR-9 modifications installed in the field to include onsite or over the phone.

    Provide 2nd Level maintenance and engineering for data management as well as for operational subsystems of the ASR-9.

    Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to work environments.

    Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders.

    Ability to work in a fast paced/challenging environment

    Preferred:

    Understanding of ASR-9/ASR-8 radar principles, signal processing, and RF electronics.

    Proficiency in ASR-9/ASR-8 radar system testing and troubleshooting techniques.

    Experience with radar system simulation tools and software (e.g., AutoCAD, 3D Printer, Altium).

    Familiarity with radar system components, including transmitters, receivers, antennas, and signal processors.

    Knowledge of radar system integration, installation, and field-testing procedures.

    Daily Job Duties

    Performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of radar systems and associated components.

    Conducting system upgrades, modifications, and calibration activities to improve performance and meet operational requirements.

    Developing and maintaining technical documentation, including maintenance procedures and system configurations.

    Conducting feasibility studies and cost analyses for electrical systems.

    Troubleshoot, analyze, and determine operational issues and recommend solutions.

    Conduct or participate in formal and informal reviews at predetermined points throughout the development life cycle.

    Work Environment:

    Full-time on-site position with standard work schedule

    Willing to occasionally travel for installations, repairs, etc. up to 75% of the time

    Cubical office space
