    Job Overview:

    We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Radiation Oncology Physician to provide comprehensive radiation oncology services. The successful candidate will be an American Board of Radiology (ABR) certified physician who maintains certification throughout the period of performance. You will be expected to adhere to the Guidelines & Technical Standards for Radiation Oncology set by leading professional organizations and ensure the practice meets or exceeds established clinical guidelines and standards.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Direct Patient Care (90%): Evaluate and treat transported inpatient and outpatient clinical services for both palliative and curative cancer patients. Provide follow-up, re-evaluation, and treatment visits. Perform prostate seed implants if applicable. Complete documentation associated with the treatment of patients.
    • Conventional Radiation Treatment: Utilize advanced modalities including IMRT, IGRT, Stereotactic Radiosurgery, and Stereotactic Radiotherapy, ensuring practices are justified per established criteria.
    • Patient Consultation/Pretreatment Evaluation: Conduct comprehensive evaluations including history and physical examination, review of radiographic and lab studies, and document evaluations in the medical record.
    • Treatment Planning: Develop and document goal-oriented treatment plans, discuss plans with patients, and obtain signed consent. Alter plans as necessary based on patient progress.
    • Treatment Management: Perform weekly examinations of patients, monitor therapy for side effects, and adjust treatments as needed. Instruct patients and caregivers on risks and symptom management.
    • Treatment Discharge: Document treatment discharge summaries, including total radiation doses, patient's condition, discharge instructions, and follow-up appointments.

    Experience Requirements:

    • A minimum of 5 years of clinical experience excluding residency
    • 3 years of experience with Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT)
    • Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy (SBRT): Minimum case experience of 10 documented cases within the last two years
    • Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS): Minimum case experience of 10 documented cases within the last two years
    • 3 years of experience with the Eclipse treatment planning system and ARIA record & verify system, including the following treatment modalities: 2D/3D Conformal, SRS, SRT, SBRT, and IMRT/VMAT (following standards of TG-53
    • Experience in an accredited radiation oncology practice
    • Knowledge of professional care theories, principles, practices, and procedures specific to the radiation oncology patient population
    • Familiarity with growth and development, and pathophysiology of disease processes specific to radiation oncology
    • Experience in both curative and palliative radiation treatment
    • Experience in dose amount and duration of radiation treatments and patient evaluation

    Experience Preferences:

    • Familiarity with VA regulations and guidelines.

    Physical Requirements:

    • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
    • Manual dexterity for operating medical equipment.
    • Capacity to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
    • Clear vision, including depth perception and color vision.
    • Effective hearing and communication skills.

    Education Requirements:

    • Master’s Degree in Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO).
    • Current, full, and unrestricted medical license to practice in any State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia.
    • Board certification in Radiation Oncology by the ABR with a minimum of five (5) years of clinical experience excluding residency.
    • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or equivalency.

    Education Preferences:

    • Additional certifications or training in advanced radiation oncology techniques.

    Schedule:

    • Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, excluding holidays.
    • On-call coverage required for evenings, weekends, and holidays, with availability for phone consultations and immediate patient evaluations.
    • Patients must be seen within 2 hours of the page when immediate evaluation or radiotherapy is medically indicated.
