Job Overview:
We are seeking a qualified Radiation Therapy Technologist to provide therapeutic radiation treatment for patients diagnosed with cancer and other abnormal cell growth conditions. This contract role will involve working with radiation oncology equipment and collaborating with medical professionals in a clinical environment. The role requires proficiency in advanced radiation therapy techniques and ensuring patient safety in radiation treatments, Perform other duties as assigned.
Experience Requirements:
- A minimum of 1 year of experience in radiation oncology treatment machines and equipment.
- A minimum of 1 year of experience in the delivery of prescribed therapeutic radiation for cancer and abnormal cell growth treatments.
- 1+ years of experience in 3-dimensional conformal radiation therapy (3D-CRT), Intensity-Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT), and Image-guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT).
- 1 year of expertise in radiation dose distribution and dose calculations in collaboration with medical physicists and radiation oncologists.
- Ability to interpret prescriptions and instructions from treating physicians and carry out complex assignments under general supervision.
- Experience preparing imaging, simulation, treatment, and ancillary equipment for patient use, including recording measurements and checking radiation field specifications.
- Maintaining appropriate skin markings for patient positioning and applying cushions/shields as needed while ensuring patient cooperation and explaining procedures in accordance with ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) principles.
- Operating imaging and/or sealed radiation equipment and limiting radiation fields using lead cutouts or multi-leaf collimation (MLC).
- Assisting Radiation Oncologists with bolus design according to physician instructions.
- Positioning patients in CT scanners and acquiring necessary tumor volume data for treatment planning.
- Setting technical factors for radiotherapy procedures and operating necessary accessory equipment.
- Producing radiographs incorporating information required for prescription, treatment planning, field shaping, and patient setup.
- Ensuring departmental and hospital policies are adhered to, including performing timeout procedures and verifying patient identity before providing treatment.
- Maintaining records of patients treated, therapies performed, and technical factors used.
- Operating simulators to localize tumor volume accurately and performing portal filming and localizing topographical landmarks.
- Entering daily treatment notes into the Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS) in accordance with local guidelines.
- Reporting any irregular incidents or problems encountered during treatment to Radiation Oncology Nurse.
- Providing support, assistance, or coverage for absences as needed and ensuring all required supplies, materials, and equipment are operational.

- Must be able to lift and position heavy equipment and patients as needed.

Education Requirements:
- Graduate of an approved program in Therapeutic
- Radiologic Technology, evidenced by a certificate or associate degree from an accredited institution.
- Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in radiation therapy (T).

- Compressed schedule option of 10-hour shifts,4 days a week, 0700-1730
