    Job Description

As an RF/Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for working across multiple domains, including radio frequencies, electronics, hardware, and software. Your role will involve the analysis, design, implementation, optimization, and enhancement of nanosatellite communications payloads, and eventually, a future constellation network. Work products will include link budget analyses, system dimensioning for coverage and capacity (including traffic analysis and simulation), initial system design and dimensioning, coverage and frequency planning, interference analysis, and mitigation techniques. Additionally, you will support the iterative design and testing of payload hardware, electronics, and software, working with software-defined radios, single-board computers, FPGAs, SoCs, processors, LNAs, and filters, as well as contributing to antenna selection and design.

If you enjoy the challenge of taking on multiple roles and have a creative approach to solving unconventional problems, this position is for you!

    Core Responsibilities:

    • Support the design of spacecraft payload hardware, including SDRs, FPGAs, SoCs, processors, LNAs, filters, amplifiers, and single-board computers, as well as the software design and development process.
    • Support the selection and design of nanosatellite antenna technologies.
    • Develop link budget analyses, simulations, traffic/capacity analysis, RF system design and dimensioning, coverage, and frequency planning.
    • Support spacecraft payload integration, testing, and delivery to launch and spacecraft bus partners/vendors.
    • Design and plan payload testing configurations for ground and in-orbit testing.
    • Collaborate with the Systems Engineering team to inform constellation/network architecture based on RF communications payload performance.
    • Perform hands-on work including testing, integration, assembly, programming, and prototyping of electronics hardware and software.
    • Contribute to software-based Systems Engineering analysis.
    • Develop and maintain technical documentation for payload design and development.
    • Work both independently and within a team environment.
