Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and versatile X-Ray Technician to join our healthcare team. This unique role combines technical radiologic expertise with essential administrative duties. The ideal candidate will be proficient in performing diagnostic imaging procedures and will also support front desk operations, patient check-in/check-out processes, medical records requests, and MRI authorization and Insurance benefit checks.
Radiologic Duties:
Perform high-quality X-ray imaging procedures following established protocols.
Prepare patients for radiologic examinations, explaining the procedure, and ensuring patient safety.
Operate X-ray equipment and adjust controls to set exposure factors.
Ensure proper positioning of patients to obtain optimal images.
Review and evaluate developed X-rays to ensure they meet diagnostic standards.
Maintain accurate patient records and imaging logs.
Follow all radiation safety regulations and guidelines.
Collaborate with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to interpret and communicate results.
Administrative Duties:
Serve as the first point of contact for patients at the front desk, providing a welcoming and professional environment.
Handle patient check-in and check-out processes efficiently, verifying patient information and insurance details.
Answer phone calls, address patient inquiries, and manage appointment scheduling.
Process medical records requests in compliance with HIPAA regulations and facility policies.
Assist with MRI authorization by verifying patient benefits and obtaining necessary pre-authorizations.
Communicate with insurance companies to confirm coverage and benefits for imaging procedures.
Maintain organized and up-to-date patient records in the electronic medical records (EMR) system.
Assist with billing inquiries and process payments as needed.
Perform other clerical duties such as filing, faxing, and managing correspondence.
Qualifications:
Associate’s degree or higher in Radiologic Technology from an accredited program.
Current state licensure as a Radiologic Technologist.
Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
Minimum of 1+ years of experience as an X-Ray Technician preferred.
Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems and radiology software.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
Knowledge of MRI authorization and insurance benefit verification processes is a plus.
Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand for extended periods and lift/move patients as needed.
Manual dexterity to operate radiologic equipment and handle imaging processes.
Work Environment:
Combination of clinical and office settings.
Exposure to radiologic environments and potential biohazards.
Regular interaction with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
