  • Responsibilities

    Summary: The Systems Administrator will maintain, upgrade, and provide support for client's software, hardware, and networks. The Systems Administrator needs to be able to diagnose and resolve problems quickly and be available to respond to support requests after hours. The individual should be able to easily communicate technical concerns and solutions to people with varying degrees of technical knowledge. The Systems Administrator is also responsible for maintaining our system infrastructure, including server maintenance, testing computer equipment, backing up physical and virtual servers, installing and updating malware software, installing and rebuilding existing servers as well as other processes.

    Essential Functions:

    • Familiarity with modern operating systems and server platforms (Windows Server 2012 R2/2016/2019).
    • Administration of Windows Server functions: AD accounts/roles, DNS, DHCP, RADIUS, etc.
    • Administration and maintenance of Windows Server virtualization environment (Hyper-V).
    • Administration and maintenance of Hyper-Converged Infrastructure (HCI) equipment.
    • Installing or upgrading Windows servers and systems.
    • Automated scripting using tools such as Powershell as well as languages like Python.
    • Knowledge of data backup technologies.
    • Excellent problem-solving skills.

    Good analytical and communication skills.

    • Assist staff with the installation, configuration and ongoing usability of desktop computers, peripheral equipment, and software.
    • Work with vendor support contacts to resolve technical problems with desktop computing equipment and software.
    • Ensure desktop computers interface with necessary systems, including file servers, email servers, application servers, and administrative systems.
    • Assist in the implementation of antivirus and PC backup technologies.
    • Coordinate with I.T. staff to procure hardware and software. Assess functional needs to determine specifications for purchases and configuration.
    • Responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems, network servers, and virtualization.
    • Provide documentation and technical specifications to IT staff for planning and implementing new or upgrades of IT infrastructure.
    • Regular and timely attendance.

    Desired Functions:

    • Ability to properly configure network parameters on end user devices.
    • Familiarity with telephony/VoIP systems is a plus (RingCentral).
    • Familiarity with network LAN/WAN devices (routers/switches) and basic configuration tasks (IP addresses, subnet masks, gateways, VLANs).
    • Experience with Cisco ASA firewalls is a plus (but not required).
    • Experience with Microsoft Azure storage/compute functions (but not required).
    • Ability to lift/move assets of ~50 lbs.

    Qualifications:

    Education : Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field. Microsoft Windows Server certification(s) desired.

    Experience :

    • 1 to 3 years of experience administering modern Windows Server platforms; supporting Windows 10 deployments.

    • Working knowledge of virtualization, Hyper-V, or equivalent.

    • Strong knowledge of Microsoft O365 and Exchange online environment.

    • Proven experience troubleshooting hardware issues and replacing hardware on both desktop and laptop PC's, and Servers.

    • Proven experience installing software, security patches, and updates on PC's and servers.

    • Proven experience troubleshooting basic network, software, printing, and fax issues.
