    Position Summary:
    We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Radiotherapy Tech - Brooklyn.

    In this role, the successful candidate Applies scientific knowledge and theory to practical use of high energy beam to provide radiation therapy to patients as prescribed by physician according to established standards and protocols

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Deliver a prescribed and planned course of radiation therapy to patients by checking prescription diagnosis chart patient identification etc Schedule patients and explains procedures pre and post treatment Answer questions and reassure patients
    • Performs all other duties as assigned or requested
    • Performs all other duties as directed by department head and/or chief technologist
    • Attends staff meetings workshops and seminars both in and outside of hospital to increase knowledge and refine skills
    • Maintain records reports and files as required Collect statistics as directed
    • Assist with maintenance of department facilities equipment and supplies Maintain stock levels of supplies and materials Report maintenance and repair needs to supervisor Check beam direction daily calibrate temp barometric pressure for high energy equipment Keep records and report erratic operation to engineer physicist or dosimetrist
    • Aid in the training of medical students of Radiotherapy Technology School
    • Assist in tumor localization dosimetry procedures; follow up clinic or other exams
    • Observe patient for any unusual reactions or events Report to designated personnel and assist in emergency treatment Observe radiation safety measures for patient and personnel
    • Take into consideration the age growth and developmental stage of the individual when assessing treating or caring for patients
    • Reinforce recommendations given to the patient by the physician dietician etc concerning reaction to treatment and care of the radiated area dressings hygiene etc prevention or treatment of generalized and local side effects Change dressing as necessary
    • Prepare room and equipment for patient according to prescription Transfer patient to treatment couch Withhold treatment pending decision by radiation oncologist if indicated by patient s condition etc Maintain visual and/or audible contact with patient during treatment Check daily treatment time and deliver prescribed dose Maintain patient markings Document treatment Keep physician informed Change therapy as ordered Take and check films of all treated areas process and file same
    • Interface with physicist planning and mold tech at initiation of treatment Act as a liaison with supportive care physicians and nurses

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • To qualify you must have a Graduation from an accredited program in radiation therapy technology.
    • At least 2 years of training in an accredited program in radiation therapy technology as a student.
    • A willingness to devote the time required completing assigned tasks on schedule.
    • Must be able to function in a high stress environment.
    • Current New York State License Department of Health Current Registration by the ARRT.

    NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $101,132.66 - $119,022.80 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
