Job Description:Principal Software Engineer MaxPoint Interactive is seeking a highly motivated Principal Software Engineer at our Austin, TX office. The ideal candidate is energized by the thought of developing new system stacks and tools for constructing and integrating field-based distributed computing systems and the centralized process with which they interact. This position is perfect for a far-sighted, hands-on, actively coding engineer who always wants to be the first to apply cutting edge technologies to solve complex business and engineering problems. This individual will work on a team of talented engineers responsible for the full life-cycle of production systems, software, tools and flows. What you will be doing here? * Designing, developing and maintaining robust, scalable software that will interact with Linux OS and network devices * Designing, developing and maintaining software that will securely interact with remote endpoints using industry standard internet protocols and techniques * Applying your ability to learn and apply new technologies quickly * Leveraging your excellent problem-solving abilities Qualifications * BS in Computer Science or other technical disciplines (with significant computer coursework) * 7+ years of professional software experience * Experience developing Java applications in an enterprise development environment Other capabilities that will maximize your ability to be successful * Proficiency in high-level languages such as Java, Scala and Python * Experience with big data solutions and cluster style analytics * Experience developing SOA Java services and web applications that interact with them * Ability to work both independently and as part of a team * Ability to multi-task in a dynamic environment * Excellent verbal and communication skills * Experience with Agile development methodologies is a plus What's in it for you MaxPoint offers a generous benefits package including company paid premiums for employee and family health, dental and vision coverage, company contributed Flexible Spending Account for eligible medical expenses, 401k, paid vacation and holidays.
