Job Description
What will the role involve?
You will find and pitch stories using analytics and tools to tell you what’s already trending, as well as finding the next big stories yourself. Editing and posting stories and videos on our social pages while coming up with new creative ways to drive traffic to our sites and grow our audiences.
You will be forward planning social media content and coverage, covering live events and breaking news on social media while monitoring the external landscape to identify trends - and communicate findings while sharing knowledge and best practice across the business, but particularly in the newsroom.
Shift Patterns & Working Location
This is an office based role working from our New York office, we are therefore open to candidates based in or commutable to New York. Please note in order to be suitable for this role you must be eligible to work in the US.
Rotas are completed approximately 1 month in advance to help ensure a seamless working pattern and time to prepare. Current shift patterns for this role are as follows (please note that this may be subject to change as the team expands):
7:00am - 3:00pm EST
9:00am - 5:00pm EST
12:00pm - 8:00pm EST
1 weekend shift per month is also required, this can be either an early or late shift and will be decided with your line manager (you will also receive 2 days back in lieu).
Qualifications
Who are we looking for?
You are a digitally savvy writer and journalist who is used to working within a fast-paced digital newsroom environment and has a strong understanding of the power of social media. You have a detailed knowledge of Facebook, X, Instagram, Pinterest, TikTok and other social media platforms.
You will be comfortable using analytics and tools to understand what stories are already trending but also relish the opportunity to find that next big story yourself! Previous experience of creating and editing video content is highly desirable.
