Job Description
You will generate multiple stories a day, identifying, writing and developing trending news stories, with great pictures and engaging video to drive traffic. The role will also include an element of production, enabling the amplification of stories across our titles.
You will deliver a fast turnaround on major news stories across both the US and globally, and bring in exclusive stories that set us apart from our rivals. All while ensuring that every piece of content is researched and published in accordance with the Editor’s Code of practice.
Shift Patterns & Working Location
This is a remote position based in California. Please note in order to be suitable for this role you must be eligible to work in the US and reside in California.
The standard shift for this position is 3:00pm - 11:00pm PST. 1 weekend in every 4 weeks is also required, with time back in lieu provided to you during the week.
A level of flexibility is required in this role, as shifts are open to last minute changes as a result of current news affairs or attending events.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone with passion for what they do and the drive to discover new stories that will resonate with and engage our audience. You will be a skilled reporter with knowledge of media law, you’ll have a track record of delivering a wide range of engaging human interest and hard hitting news stories while understanding what works for a digital audience.
You have first rate editing, writing and subbing skills, relish the test of working under pressure and to tight deadlines, with a flexible attitude towards working hours. You’re social media savvy with current SEO knowledge and ideally you're familiar with newsroom analytics and content management systems. You’re flexible, inquisitive and are on the pulse of what makes a great story!
