We are seeking an energetic and skilled educator to join our after-school program team! As a Reading Intervention Teacher, you will work with a small group of students in grades K-5 toward reading success.
You will create and facilitate interactive, hands-on, and engaging reading literacy projects and provide learning instruction to frustrational level readers. You will also assess students' oral reading fluency and reading comprehension.
The best fit teacher will demonstrate strong leadership skills, student engagement skills, and successful experience working with school-age children. Data management, organization, lesson planning, creativity, and flexibility are necessary practical skills. Most importantly, applicants must truly enjoy working with children!

Responsibilities:
Plan fun reading intervention activities and engaging curriculum, ex. readers theater
Encourage the development of students’ critical thinking skills
Prepare any necessary learning materials
Assess oral reading fluency and reading comprehension
Provide feedback to students and parents
Homework help
Document students’ learning progress
Collaborate with program staff to create a healthy and safe learning environment
Report and document behavioral incidents
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or higher and state teaching certification preferred
Previous experience teaching at the k-5 level is preferred
Understanding of child development principles and best practices in education and classroom management
Knowledge of classroom health, safety, and sanitation guidelines and ability to closely adhere to the guidelines
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
