Our client is seeking a full-time Legal Counsel to join their in-house legal team. We’re looking for a motivated legal professional with a passion for commercial and industrial real estate and a strong foundation in real estate law. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting developers, general contractors, lenders, and investors in a wide range of transactions.
In this role, you'll be actively involved in managing complex financing transactions—including acquisition, bridge, construction, and permanent loans—coordinating closings, drafting transactional documents, and supporting litigation matters. You’ll work closely with internal stakeholders and external parties to help ensure smooth execution of high-value deals and projects.
Primary Responsibilities
Draft and review general correspondence, leases, purchase and sale contracts, license agreements, construction contracts, and banking documents
Order, review, and prepare objection letters regarding title reports and surveys
Draft and negotiate letters of intent, purchase and sale agreements, leases, loan documents, estoppels, SNDA’s, and related documents
Coordinate transaction closings with buyers, sellers, title companies, lenders, and opposing counsel
Prepare transfer documents and other transaction-specific legal documents, in compliance with state requirements
Represent the company in litigation matters across multiple areas, including municipal law, real estate, contract disputes, and defamation-related claims
Assist in closing preparation, execution of closings on behalf of the lender, and preparation/review of all bank documentation
Prepare filing statements, recognition agreements, and closing disclosures
Transactional Coordination
Manage communications among all key parties, including clients, opposing counsel, lender's counsel, title companies, brokers, loan officers, and closing departments
Perform other legal and transactional duties as assigned
Ideal Candidate Profile
A proactive self-starter with strong analytical and legal writing skills
Capable of independently managing multiple transactions from inception to completion
Thrives both independently and as part of a collaborative, high-performing team
Demonstrates exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
Possesses excellent time management and multitasking abilities
Experienced with a variety of real estate asset classes including retail, industrial, and office properties
Holds a Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
Admitted to the Wisconsin State Bar and in good standing
At least 3 years of legal experience, ideally with a focus on real estate transactions
