  • Responsibilities

    Overview:

    Slidell based professional services firm seeks an accounting assistant to perform reconciliation services and reconciliation reviews of escrow and trust accounts maintained by title agencies, attorneys, and law firms.

    Duties:

    • Manage assigned agents contracted with firm to reconcile their escrow trust accounts
    • Perform reconciliations in several industry related software applications
    • Provide statutory and industry required accounting reports for each reconciliation
    • Communicate significant exceptions to agents
    • Provide preventative and corrective measures for exceptions detected in the reconciliations

    Requirements:

    • Three years of bookkeeping and data entry experience
    • Excellent math, analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
    • Keen attention to detail
    • Strong organizational skills to maintain deadlines and process high volume
    • Ability to work independently and in a team-based environment
    • Proficient communication and customer service skills

    Experience:

    • Associates degree in accounting or bookkeeping preferred
    • Previous experience performing accounting tasks such as data entry and bank reconciliations
    • Previous experience with real estate settlement software, Quicken or QuickBooks
