This client is a growing mid-sized law firm with several locations throughout New York state. They are looking for a Real Estate Legal Assistant to join their growing team. This is an in-office position in downtown Rochester, NY. Salary in the $47-55k range, depending on experience. Who We’re Looking For:
Do you enjoy supporting law partners by keeping them organized and working efficiently? In this role, you bring a background in commercial real estate transactions and mortgage banking. You’ll be responsible for maintaining files and calendars and processing real estate documentation such as affidavits, agreements, transfer documents, and closing statements. Knowledge of title report preparation a plus. You excel at having a broad range of responsibilities, have a strong sense of urgency, and can change gears quickly when necessary.
What To Expect As a Real Estate Legal Assistant:
- Provide essential support to Real Estate attorneys and paralegals by assisting with transactions for residential and commercial real estate
- Manage the attorney’s schedule through effective calendaring. This would include managing deadlines, scheduling meetings and appointments, coordinating court appearances, and managing attorney availability
- Solid understanding of real estate transactions, title insurance, and property law; familiarity with real estate closing procedures and documentation
- Maintain physical and electronic files, ensuring all are accurately filed and easily accessible
- Process real estate documentation such as affidavits, agreements, transfer documents, and closing statements
- Prepare, revise, and proofread real estate documentation
- Provide general administrative support including answering phones, managing correspondence, serve as back up support
Qualifications For Success:
- 2 years of legal assistant experience in a real estate law practice
- Ability to meet deadlines with minimal supervision
- Takes pride in submitting work products of a high standard
- Enjoys taking ownership of their work product
- Possess an independent work style and are proactive in following up on matters
- Excellent time management, organizational abilities, attention to detail and strong proofreading skills
